I've only looked through it in a store. Compared it side by side with a 60mm Nikon Fieldscope and the Fieldscope was better to me. Better picture and much easier focusing. The Zeiss has the foucus way out on the end and it was hard to keep the scope still while focusing.

The one I looked through the eye relief was very sensitive to maintain a full sight picture compared to the Zeiss Diascope 65mm I had and the Swaro 65mm I own. But not a bad scope at all.

I have had one for a while now and I haven't finished up the review yet but here are a few of my thoughts on the Zeiss Field Scope:

It is a very nice scope. If you are planning on using it some resting on a pack, log etc, it is the easiest to use I have tried. On a tripod, the focus ring does have a couple of full turns from close to infinity and the focus ring is at the ocular lens end. Also by being at the far end it requires a bit more reach for focusing than a traditional design.

It is very sharp, focus and zoom are smooth but focus is a little touchy.

Eye relief is critical.
Lens caps are kind of bulky, I think I will replace the ocular with a snap cap or screw-in lens cap. It is quite long but does fit into a side pocket for the new Kifau UL packs.

In side by side comparisons with the Nikon 50 ED a couple weeks ago, I would likely opt for the Nikon.
