I am looking for a very light weight quick detach 1 inch scope mount that is LW but rugged.

To me I just go LaRue, weight is not an issue when mounting my optic's.

LaRue's are pretty light as is but ADM might be a tad lighter due to the skeletonizing of the rings.

I vote LaRue.

I wish they were $39.95 like everyone else but I'll take a known quality over cheap at any price.

With the BUIS thread I got to thinking I have enough in Troy BUIS's to buy a complete gun, add in LaRue mounts and I could afford a good scope to go with it.

But in the end, could I count on it to do everything my guns do now so equipped?

Well said TWR. You might consider a LW set of QR rings.

What is sad is that the chain is only as strong as the weakest link. I have a spare set of BUIS laying around, sadly rifle scopes in my opinion leave a lot to be desired these days regards impact resistance. The one diavari 3x9 I am going to use has been back to Zeiss twice now. Maybe it will not break on a 223 but I am convinced that most if not all variable scopes are in general 1000 round items before failure.

Hmmmm....

I think rost said he's had a Leupold that went bad due to the bolt carrier coming forward, much like an air gun.

But luckily for me, I've never had any problems with VXIII's or MK4's and I know for dang sure that I had at least one 1.5-5 with more than a few thousand rounds on it without issue and a couple of 3.5-10's. In fact I have one 3.5-10 that started it's life on a Colt that had at least 3000 rounds on it and it now resides on my 17" Kreiger (I think?) so you can add another 1000 rounds or so on it.

My BUIS's and detachable mounts are more because I like to shoot irons and do but in the event that I do have a scope failure I'm all set.

Never have had any failures of Leupold scopes on my AR's and a couple have well in excess of 5000 rounds through them.

Larue seems to be the best choice!

Pretty much grin I will say I have had very good results with the GG&G mounts, rock solid and return to zero. I'm not moving scopes around like I use to as I am getting down to just a couple AR's and have gone 100% LaRue.

Have you used the LT 136 inserts? It would be nice to be able to use 25mm and 30mm scopes in the same mount"

Sorry, I have not. Been using 30mm scopes for the past several years.

I have and do. While playing around with the 1.5-5's I noticed that I liked the 1.93" tall mount better and then realized the 30MM mount is taller than their 1" mount. The standard 1" mount puts the crosshairs right in the middle of the front post on low power. Turn up the power and of course it disappears but the 30MM mount puts the crosshairs right above the front sight.

I now use the standard LT104 30mm with 1" inserts if needed. They work well but are higher (priced) than they should be.

You can buy the 1" rings or 30mm rings and switch them back and forth for what ever dia scope you want to use with the same mount on the LT-104 mount, NO need to but inserts.... and there $25.00 for a set.

Problem for me was height.

30mm - 1.5" above flat top

1" - 1.41" above flat top

Not much but just enough to mess with a low powered scope and a fixed front sight base.

I've used the LaRue and ADM and like both. Of the two that I've owned the return to zero was excellent on both. I sort of like the ADM better out of the two but not enough to say it's a better product. I just seem the like the the releases a little better on the ADM and the fact that you don't need a special tool, any tool for that matter to adjust the tension like you do on a LaRue.

The last two mounts I bought weren't Q/R though. I think it's a neat option but I honestly don't need it.

I've never used an ADM mount but have a buddy who likes em well enough. I've heard the argument on the "special tool" (a 3/8" wrench) used to adjust the LaRues but I simply look at it like this; It's a one time fit and the wrench comes with the mount just like the Torx wrench you use while mounting the scope. I keep a wrench in my bag if I ever need to use it but in the past several years of using them, I've never needed it.

We have lot's of options and that's a good thing. I remember when it was Armalite and A.R.M.S. oh and B-Square.
