Hey All,
Just wondering if anyone has designed or tried any wildcats on the 6.8 SPC case. Or even the 6.5 Grendel or Creedmore cases. Mainly interested in the smaller calibers; 6mm, .25". I'm looking for a nice light recoiling rifle for deer hunting. Something out of the norm so to speak. 80-100 grain bullets2500-3000 fps?

Thanks, Tom

6mm WOA... necked to 6mm, I have one in my AR... don't recall speed right now.. but 85 tsx works well on deer/pigs, and shilen tube is shooting under MOA>

Most of my buddies can easily get 3150 with 75's from their WOA's...

Was thinking hard on turning my Ruger Compact into a .25 SPC.
But it probably wouldn't change performance of the light .277 caliber bullets out of the 6.8.

I wonder if 2850 with a 105 Berger is possible with the 6mm WOA or the 243 LBC? That is what would interest me. That would do double duty as a LR coyote rifle and a long-range AR upper for a SHTF situation.

I've been wondering about a 6 or 6.5 DTI or WOA in a contender. Of course probly wouldn't do anything a 6 or 6.5X30-30 wouldn't do. Maybe better brass??

In a handgun, I'd go 7x30 in a Contender/G2, better expansion ratio, a 12-12.5" would be my taste, 14 was always too long for me, - the balance. The 6 or 6.5 would be better in a longer bbl like a carbine 18-20" or so IMHO. For an Encore, I'd look hard at 6BR and 6.5 Grendel, for a modest round for hunting to 250-300 yds in a handgun bbl, + 50-100 yds more in a rifle.

Custom handgun - 6.5BR would be a very good one, but the difference between it and the Grendel would be greater in a rifle length bbl.

For deer, the 6.8 is pretty good as is, but if you just want different for deer, it'd be tough to beat a .30 American with 125gr Sierra PHs.

Thanks, Tom

I let my buddy shoot this one yesterday, while I worked up loads in his rifle:

I settled on 26.7 grains of AR comp, as it produces the best accuracy at the pressure I wanted to run my AR.... The 6WOA is a nice little cartridge to play around with.

Check out AR15Performance.com. He has numerous wildcats on 6.8SPC and 6.5 Grendel. All proven and tested.

I run a 6PDK in my White Oak XTC Match rifle and it is very accurate and consistent. Easy to form cases and I shoot the FF loads in matches. It holds just a touch more powder than the 6WOA and is probably a horse apiece.

How about necking it up to 30 cal? I'm thinking the case would need to be about .350" longer to get 30-30 ballistics though.

Sorry. I couldn't help myself. The Holocough made me do it.

I shoot a 6mmDTI, but I still wish it had more sauce to it. probably would have done a 6mm hagar if doing it again. the real answer is a slightly modded upper that runs the BR case. but probably no one would buy one.
