I dug out an old Redfield ,4X Widefield to put on a new 444 Marlin I just come by , and discovered it is cloudy. It worked good on my 1895 Marlin [which now has a 1X4 loopie] and I'd like to put it on this new rifle.

I expect I've had it since the seventies,if not before.

Sounds like the old balsam lens adhesive has finally crystalized but just a guess on my end.

I have NO experience with any of these outfits. I just copied it for any possible future use.

The cost to repair might be close to a couple of Camera Land's clearance scopes with modern coatings and 40-50 year newer technology.
But i'm sentimental also.

Hope this helps.

I've heard good things about Parsons.

Again, no personal knowledge, except that I tested one of their scopes once (it was excellent), but Parsons' reputation is good.

A Denver Redfield rebuild by Iron Sight, Inc., is pretty inexpensive, $80 for any non-target model Redfield that is 3-9x or less magnification. The catch being that they are very s-l-o-w in their turn around time. I currently have a pair of Denver Redfield 2-7x scopes at Iron Sight, Inc., getting rebuilt and having the reticles changed to their #1 (German?) style. They have been there for more than 8 months and I'm not expecting to see them anytime soon. If you have time, they may not be a bad option. If you are in a hurry, they are certainly not the place to send your scope.
