Yeah! Don't use them. At velocities over 2,900 fps. they are not designed to hold together. Don't flame me as this comes straight from the technicians at Nosler when I called to complain. Almost lost two nice Mule Deer bucks due to the bullets fragmenting on the ribs and not reaching the vitals. One buck was stopped by my friend and the other required a second shot that broke his neck. For over 40 years shooting the .25-06(got three of them now) I used nothing but Nosler Partitions but now I found a better bullet. The Barnes 100 gr. TSX. Doesnt fragment, penetrates deeper than 115 gr. Partitions and is the most accurate big game bullet I have found. From my experiences, leave the Ballistic Tips for what they were designed for, VARMINTS. Try the Barnes TSX and you wont regret it. Lawdog <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Partitions will work too, but the Barnes TSX is best..........

100 Gr. TSX knocked the oink out of 4 nice sized hogs last winter (25-284). Excellent expansion and I must assume they held together as no bullets were recovered. I would not take a chance of losing an animal with the plastic tipped wonders at that speed. YMMV, Bruce

It was not too long ago that dogzapper (Mr. Timm) said he uses the ballistic tip out of his 25-06 and got excellent results. I believe several posters mentioned the newer ballistic tips performed better than the older BT. Just from what I read...

FWIW:
Dogzapper used a 25-06AI to zap an antelope at over 400 yards.
The IMPACT velocity was likely less than 2900 FPS.
I believe that the guys at Nosler were referring to IMPACT velocity (not MUZZLE velocity) when statting that the B-Tip was not designed to work above 2900 FPS.
Hope this helps with the anlaysis,
BMT
