David Henrys shop was broken into in the spring and he posted that he'd had enough and was closing the doors. I know prior to the break-in he was looking at an acerage and moving his shop there. We can only hope he is in limbo and will get back in the game. He certainly knows his stuff. I'm sure I'll be talking to someone who knows Davids plans.

I'd highly recommend contacting Nick Makinson in Komoka, Ontario. His number is (519)471-5462. Not sure if he works on Lefevers, but his work is highly recommended for double shotguns and rifles.

+1 for sure!

Nick repaired a Winchester 101 over and under for me and did a very fine job. He is a nice guy and was kind enough to let me see some of his finished and in-progress work. Wow! Holland and Holland or Purdey quality -- but not cheap of course. He will not rip you off though, so just tell him what you can spend and he will do the best for that price.

The only reason I did not post him before is that I didn't know if he was still in business -- it must have been 20 years since he fixed my gun up. (I used to live in Ont.)

If he is still working, there is not much he could not do and he sure seemed like a honest guy.

GRF - David posted on GunNutz that he is building a new shop west of Bentley but not taking on any work until it is done. Sometime in the fall. My gunsmith buddy says David is the guy for shotgun work.

I have had good results with Nick Makinson. He is a very competent smith for double guns and he doesn't take a year to do the work, unlike some others.
Nick raised dents and reblued the barrels on an old Ithaca Flues 16ga. for me, repaired the stock and did some chamber and choke work on an AYA XXV, and repaired the locks on an AYA #1 sidelock. All very competent jobs.
