Nice to see an early Ruger in such nice condition.
It appears to have the standard diameter barrel because the fore end in the stock has a very narrow edge. Later on when they began making the heavier varmint barrels they made a heavier stock which looked fine with a heavy barrel but would have a very wide ledge on each side of the fore end. This has the earlier narrow sides.
I owned a 6mm rem just like this one. This rifle brings back some fond memories. There was a 6mm rem safe queen for sale locally a few years back but the owner was just too proud of it. He was asking $650

It is the standard barrel contour.
FC--I do not know about the availability of brass, but if there is some I am sure we would be most generous.
