A couple of guys from Texas were using them where I hunted with outfitter in Colorado (7mm & 300 WM) and I saw one on GB for a good price and I bought it in 300 WSM, I haven't shot it yet. I could have bought one in 257 WBY on GB for $709 and I didn't, still kicking myself, they are now $999!

What is the weight of these special run LSS compared to the Mountain LSS?

I'd really like a light weight gun in .308 with 1:10 twist.

If weight is not a concern, or if trying to balance out a magnum contour, I really like the various Remington factory laminate sporter stocks. I have one on an SPS SS 257wby and it balances much better than the factory plastic stock.

I've got one in 7rum I picked up a few years back. SS unfired with a vari-x 2 4-12x40. Paid 650 out the door. The rifle shoots decent with factory loads, but I'll work up hand loads soon. Very sharp rifle, but the high gloss is a little much.

I got the grey laminate with the satin finish barrel in 30-06. It shoots 1 inch or better with most factory ammo. I got pretty lucky for a factory rifle.
Good looking rifle too. Folks are always complimenting me how nice looking it is and asking what rifle it is. The stock finish is glossy. Recoil pad is a little too big for me. On higher powers my scope gets the black shadow because of it. I'll work something out. It's a good rifle all around.

700 MR, 700 TI, etc.

But Browning is worse, sometimes I almost think that they made one of a configuration for the catalog shoot and maybe just a couple hundred more before shutting down the production. I'm a 25 WSSM fan and have looked long and hard for a Browning TI Mountain Rifle at a reasonable price, but they are very, very, scare.

A while back I bumped into a LSS in 7 RUM at the LGS. It was beautiful and had a great price on it, I couldn't pass it up.

It shot well but the relatively small grip had my knuckle getting battered by the bolt knob when fired. I tried changing my grip but that was awkward. I had to wrap some tape around the knuckle to protect it. Before someone says I can't deal with recoil or cannot shoot. I have shot many heavy recoiling rifles and currently have a 8 1/2 lb 300 RUM that uses 230 Bergers with no issue with a Model 70.

The grip is just too small for me. I sold it to a friend who loves it. Still lust for another LSS but it would have to be a milder recoiling chambering or the bolt would have to be modified, perhaps a tactical knob.

Didn’t notice. On the other hand so what if it is? You one of those that takes issues with what some would call necroposts?
Quite frankly I don’t get why you bring attention to it.

One rarely hears that someone is a 25wssm guy. Those super short fatties seem kinda cool. I was only brave enough to indulge myself in the 325wsm . I got two rifles chambered for that cartridge. One of them is the Browning ABolt mountain titanium. Nice looking rifle and shoots okay. I always disliked the composite sleeve on the bolt as well as a cheesy clip spring in the bolt assembly. The duratouch finish was an issue
(as you may have heard), but Browning stood by the product and did a very beautiful job refinishing it. They also got it done and back to me within 6 weeks. I was impressed with their stellar service. I wonder if you ever found one in 25wssm. Pretty nifty cartridge though.
