Started playing with a Remington Model 7 in 7mm08. Having good luck with Varget and 140's, with CCI 200's.
Worked up to 43 grains with great accuracy.
Anybody else using Varget with 140's?

42 grains and 140 Btips, 140 Sierra Boattails, 139 Hornady SP, and 140 Accubonds. All of these will hold less than MOA in my 7mm08. I like Varget. Keeps my life a little more simple, and simple is good.

Good shooting freemont.
140 and Varget was a staple in mine. Ran 45 gr which was safe in MY guns, about 1 gr over book max IIRC. Primers flat no sticky extraction. Dropping back to 43 won't change anything but POA/POI by a smidgen.
An M7 has a 18.5 or 20" bbl so another couple of grains of powder likely won't give much more speed.

7mm-08 & Varget & 140 gr Ballistic Tips work well together. Completed the equation for you. Mine shoots the above combo extremely well.

If you are don't get results you like with Varger I recommend you give RL-17 a try. I will give you higher velocities than the other powders useful in this case. The concensus here on the fire is that you can use H4350 as a guide for starting amounts if it isn't mentioned in alliant's data then work up from there.
I have a 284 win that is awesome with this powder. It is moving a moly coated 160 accubond at 3070 from a 23" barrel! Tried it in a 6mm rem and 100 nos pt super accurate load vel 3300. My 338 RCM likes it too, 225 accubond @ 2750. It works well in many midsized cases. RL-17 is the new wave of rifle powders with a very long burning curve.

Varget is pretty good in my 7-08 w/140's but overall I like H-4350 a bit better.

Ditto on the 43 grains of Varget in 7-08 with NBT, NAB, Hornday IL. Both rifles also like a max load of Ramshot Big game.

20" Model Seven, handy lil' rifle.
43.5gr Varget, WLR and Hornady 139s at 2.800" COAL getting 2780ish. Trifectas generally 0.7"-1.0"

Im playing with Varget and some 140 VLD's and seems the hotter I run em the tighter the group. Was getting a flyer, odd for this gun, but 43 grns fixed that. I assume it due to not getting close enough to the lands, 2.800 is about .075 off....

I haven't had a chance to try Varget, but I have had great results with 140 BTs over 44gr IMR4350. I haven't had a chance to chrono the load, but it will put 5-shots into under 3/4".
