I saw it mentioned but I'm not computer adept enough to find it. What is it? Who makes it?

Thanks,

Jim

This is what I wanted to know.
Thanks,
Do you have a favorite concentricity or run-out gage?

Thanks,

Jim

I'm also using the Tru Tool with outstanding results. Earlier this summer I put seven shots (with barrel cooling) on one target using a lot of ammo I loaded in 2007. Then I used the RCBS Casemaster to check bullet run-out and the Tru Tool to straighten the bullets. Next time I went to the range, I fired seven shots of the same lot with run-out corrected to 0.003" or less. The original load produced a group of 2.22 in. with a "picture" that showed pretty even dispersion. The corrected load went into 1.75 in., but 6 of those shots went into .74 in. The "picture" on this second target showed 6 holes practically touching one another with one flyer. I believe, but would never be able to prove that the flyer was caused by operator error. In any event, this comparison has me sold on the Tru Tool.

Been using one for several months and really like it. Beats drilling a hole in a wood block.

Has any one tried the new Hornady case gauge that allows you to straighten the bullets?

Thanks

I have an RCBS run out gauge and a Trutool plus a very accurate .270. Rounds that show .005 or so run out are good for about one inch groups with favorite loads. If I use the Trutool to improve run out to less than .003 groups often shrink to .5" or so. The tool is not needed with everything I load for because run out isn't always an issue, but it can be very useful.

I've got a favorite (maybe because it's the only concentricity guage I've got blush). I use the brown precision "little wiggler" concentricity gauge and it straightens ammo too. I usually straighten my longrange and competition ammo to within .0005" run-out....

I have--and I'm using it more than my RCBS and Sinclair concentricity gauges.

Although I sometimes still use my wood block "truing" tool when runout is really bad.... blush

The hole I drilled in my benchtop for adjusting runout was free. I can get runout within 2 thou with it.

I know there are tools for the extreme accuate types out there.
I run mine down a long tube on their way to the intended target.

Not sure who did it first but Twodogs on here made one for me. Just like the Tru Tool. Works great. I kept elongating the holes in wood ones and was too lazy to buy a piece of oak or other hard wood....

The Tru Tool costs about the same as a box of bullets, will last forever, has holes to handle every caliber, and is a neat piece of equipment on the reloading bench.

The Little Wiggler is a neat tool. I picked mine up on Ebay a few years back. I found that soft nose bullets, like the NPT's, can be deformed by the tool. Hard tip or plastic tipped bullets work fine.

I also have a Sinclair tool to test run out and I have the Tru-Tool. It takes some practice with the Tru-Tool to develop the right feel, but it does work.

I try to load without much run out in the first place, using Bonanza Benchrest or Wilson seaters. These two seem to produce straighter ammo than conventional dies. But, I still check and correct run out.

Hello Dave! Making the one for you and another here back in the day prompted me to go ahead and set-up to offer the TruAngle, as I call it, for those who want one. Works with 17Remington through 375 caliber bottleneck cartridges. And JB endorsing the tool in several magazine pieces has been pretty cool too!

Cost is $25 shipping included to all of USA. I've sent some international too, but shipping International Priority costs a bunch, additional $25-$30 depending where it's going.

Thanks for the kind comments guys!

Pat

Maybe a small bag of money. Sinclair requested one for consideration to catalog by them. They decided not at this time. Tool is probably not "refined" enough for them? Oh well.

TooDogs, you made me one before you called them Trutool. You even let me choose what calibers. I use it and like it much!
