Folks,
I have come across a Ruger M77 MkII RSI in 7x57 - the special run that Lipseys did - apparently only 250 units produced world wide. Has the full length Mannlicher stock - brand new in box.
What was the price new when these came out in the US??
The chap selleing it down under has it for $2200 AUD - and these days our $$ is the same as your greenback.
Just want to know if the price here is reasonable or inflated.
Cheers
Gus

That is about twice what it would go for in Canada.

They sold for about $US500 15 years ago. It is just a Ruger, but only you can decide if it is of any collectors value to you. Ruger has, and continues to do, lots of these limited production run rifles. For what it is worth, you could buy some like new european/scandinavian mannlichers in Australia for that price currently - Husqvarnas and Steyrs for example, which are far more refined (and collectable) firearms. Some of the stuff flogged of in Australia as a collectors items simply ain't. If you have $2200 to spend, i can put you onto a real collectors rifle on the usedguns site.

Thanks for the feedback - I certainly wouldnt spend $2200 on this ( could get a new Sako 85 for that sort of coin)- so I will let it collect dust , and maybe make an offer when he has no takers.

Thanks for the info.

If I wanted a 7x57 that bad, I'd just find a cheap standard Hawkeye, rebarrel and refinish.

Lipsey's currently has a Stainless Hawkeye RSI in 7x57. Can be had in the U.S. for $700 - $800.

I have one but load development will have to wait until after deer season.

The K77RSIs in 7x57 were selling NIB for $750 out the door earlier this year, even the previous runs in the series sometimes show up for < $1000 on the net.

Gee he is trying to sell an 600 dollar rifle for 2200. I would pass on that. You can get an action and build a pretty good rifle for that kind of money. They are nothing special. Heck for another 900 you could get Mel Forbes at NULA to make you something really nice.
