Do you volunteer to get shot then? Should bounce right off. There is a huge gap between "one shot stop" and "bounce right off." I wouldn't want to get shot with one, but I sure as heck don't believe the "one shot stop" percentage cited on this caliber.

If I had to use the 32ACP it sure wouldn't be one shot. The 32ACP is not my first choice and I only carry it in the summer while walking for exercise after dark. I live in a very safe suburb so I am not really too concerned. The Beretta Tomcat is better than no gun and it easily fits in my back pocket. My other carry guns are a SIG P229 40SW and SIG GSR 1911 45ACP. They are hard to conceal under a t-shirt.

Do you volunteer to get shot then? Should bounce right off. That's not what I'm getting at. My point is the Marshall/Sanow %% are not credible at all. Come one, do you REALLY think that there are handgun loads that have a 96% chance of incapacitating someone with one shot? Do you really think a .32 ACP has a better than even chance of incapacitating someone with one shot? The % are grossly inflated and make handguns sound awfully effective. Having treated God knows how many gun shot victims, I can tell you from first hand experience, handguns are no where near that effective.

a .32 ACP is most effective as a man stopper, when it is thrown at the assailant.

After dark you ought to be able to conceal anything under a t-shirt, but it is your choice and you are entitled to it. If I am not carrying a gun, I prefer a S&W 642 in my front pocket, notwithstanding Marshall and Sanow's statistic cited above.

Some of the comments on this thread have gave this little pea-shooter an inferiority complex. No matter it's clips will be loaded and at the ready. Need to check out a book at the library, "The Little Engine That Could". Thanks for all the info.

I can tell you from first hand experience, handguns are no where near that effective. I've spent years looking for a handgun small enough to fit in my front pants pocket ... With the knockdown power of a pole-axe. You're saying there's no such thing?

Just get some good anecdotal evidence from a statistician and you are good to go! Heck, I killed a deer with a .32 Seecamp about 25 years ago.*
*When I checked its cervical spine for the damage, all I saw was the metallic outline of the hollow point nose on the spine. There was no penetration when fired from inches away. Fortunately, the cumulative effect of that plus the massive damage done by the .243 previously fired into the heart lung region was sufficient.

Here is a story how a sub-caliber saves hiker's life!!
The question recently came up as to what is the smallest caliber hand gun you'd trust to protect yourself from wild animals while out hiking??
My personal favorite dangerous animal self-defense small gun has always been a little Beretta Jetfire .22 caliber pistol. Over the years when hiking I will never leave the camp without first it in my pocket.
Of course we all know the first rule when hiking in the wilderness is to ALWAYS use the "Buddy System". For those of you who may be unfamiliar with this, it means that you NEVER hike alone, you ALWAYS bring along a friend or companion. In this case, two are definitely much safer/better than one ....for obvious reasons.
I remember an incident when I was hiking with a very good and old friend, and out of nowhere came this huge Grizzly Bear....and man, was she ever MAD! .....We must have accidentally been near her cubs. Anyway, if I had not had my little Jetfire....I'd not be here today. That's right, fellas ...just one well-placed shot to my friends knee cap and I was able to escape by just walking at a brisk pace. Yep.... That truly is one of the very best pistols in my entire collection!!owner.

Walther PPK in .32 was the suicide gun.

Me, too, only mine had been hit by a car and acted as though his back was broken. Very nice buck. I stuck my Seecamp right behind his ear and one shot was all it took. I called Larry Seecamp right after I received my 32 and he told me that the gun was engineered to work the best with Silvertips but I carried it loaded with Glaser Saftey Slugs. Worked good on that deer.
The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.
