Was wondering if any one tried them yet and what their impresion was. Also could someone explain the E1. I know the E stands for etched reticle which i understand, and i think the 1 stands for first focal plane, that i'm not sure i understand.

I looked thru one at Gander mountain. It was a really clear and bright scope. I liked the reticle and the new design of the FFII.

I don't think they are First Focal Plane scopes, but someone correct me on that if I'm wrong.

They are second plane. Have to have scope on max power for subtensions on reticle to work as intended.

I'd bet if a variable is 12x or less on top end, 9 out of 10 hunters will crank to max when taking a deliberate long range shot.

No doubt, an FFP has it's following. I am happy to see Burris offer such a low priced scope w/etched reticle. They are trying to stay a step or two ahead of what Leupold is doing.

OTOH, if hunting in the woods, Burris 3P#4 gets my nod...

Having to be on the highest setting wouldn't be that big of a deal, was just wondering. Think i'm going to try one in a 2x7x35. I think it would look good on my 260 mountian rifle. Thanks for the replies guys.

I got to field-test a 4-14x considerably on a prairie dog shoot last June. Not only does the reticle work well, but the optics are superb and the adjustments very repeatable.

Had a 2-7x 3P#4 and loved the glass and sharp reticle. The NEWEST FF scopes have a traditional power adj. as the old turned the entire eyepiece.

Word was Burris claimed the old style had benefits, but demand must have driven them to revert back to the current FF model.

And like you JB, adjustments were spot on.

I know looking in a store isn't outside, but from what i think i saw and your thinking the optics were superb i think i'll pull the trigger on buying one and trying it tommorow. Really don't think i could go to wrong for the price and with Burris's reputation for being tough.

Cabelas has the 3-9x40 on sale for 149.99. Not exactly the one you mentioned, but seems like a decent price.

I didn't know they were still on sale. A 4200 for $150 is a hell of a deal. I already have 4 4200s 2 3x9x40s & 2 1.5x6x36s and i really like them, wish i would have bought them for $150 each. For some reason i've just got an itch to try the new Burris. Not that i've had trouble with anything else, just got the itch ya know.

Doesn the E1 only come with one reticle? I swear I saw one advertised witha standard duplex, but according to the Burris site it only shows the new dashed reticle.

I ordered the Fullfield E1 that is on sale from cabela's. Part of the description said it had the Ballistic Plex and another part said it had a PLEX. It arrived yesterday and it just has a standard plex reticle. I did not know they made these either. It was not what I was looking for.

Does it light up, even though it is standard duplex? How are the windage and elevation controls?

I ordered the Cabelas special on the E1 and will let you know what I think when it arrives. I am glad this model from Cabelas comes with a standard plex reticle, for I find the windage ballistic plex too busy.

I'm havein an 6.5 Cmoor built hopein it's done this wk.??? Anyways with the price of doner gun plus the barrel stock work and whatever, my dreams of a better scope slowly fade. I'll be huntin G-Hogs in summer here in Pa. and hopefully buck hunt with it in open areas. I've been lookin at the Burris Fullfield E1 4.5x14x42. It seems like a fair scope and I wanted higher power for the Hogs and the p a for same reason. Midway lists it at $349.00, if I go any higher then $400.00 I might go different brand. I wanted a 4.5x14 vxIII with varmint xhairs but the burris has the new christmas tree hairs that seem just as or nicer, windage deal. Just need alittle help....later

Bought a 2x7x35 ff11 E1 yesterday but don't have it mounted yet. May take awhile to get it mounted, compare, and shoot it as i have a herneated disk in my back and my ins. just ran out, and the pain is killing me. Need to get it straightened out before i can do much. When i mess with it some i'll let you know what i think.
