Oldslowdog came up from TX, Jeff. You should at least give it some thought.

Scenarshooter with an AR. Actually kinda scary. (if you are momma coyote and you and the whole clan come looking for that hurt rabbit.)

Seems I recall you showing and hitting at 1 mile under some shall we say "challenging" conditions.

If you never push and are afraid to look like a fool then you never learn where the big boys are playing. grin

How about on your turf? I'm up for a road trip. I know of three guys I could pick up in Wyoming on the way.

8 shots on this plate at 460 meters from prone when it was 10* below zero showed me this rifle will work in the cold. When it gets really cold I'll test it again. FWIW, I used my range card for my 6XC and 105gr scenars at 3050fps. The test loads I shot in this rifle are 105gr Hornady BTHP. Barrel is a 23" Bartlein 5R 1-8". Scope is a S&B 3-12X50 PMII Mil/Mil.

So, how does this cartridge compare to the XC and the 6x47L? Seems to me, they'd be like triplets.....All depending on whose brass you want to use. Or is there another reason?

Thanks,

Kaiser Norton

Ballistically the three are very much alike. 6.5 CM brass is more readily availible as a lot of comp shooters are using it and shooting the factory offering. I have access to a LOT of brass. I have less heartburn losing Hornady brass than I would Norma(6CX) or Lapua. A lot of my shooting is out in the field and with snow on the ground, so brass recovery is lousy at best. The other issue with the 6X47 Lapua is small rifle primers misfiring in extreme cold temps. Nothing is more aggrivating than hearing "click" instead of "boom", when you have a coyote standing broadside at 200 meters.....been there, done that.

Prone from a bipod. This morning the conditions were near perfect.

This load produces 3050fps.

105gr scenars are next....

Not having to seat long, high BC bullets way down in the powder collum. My COAL on this load is 2.690". The lower end of the bearing surface is still at, or just a smidge above the neck/shoulder junction.
