Maybe someone can help me here....can get this rifle→ BRNO model 22F 7x57 Mannlicher stock (full) with an original meopta scope 3x. Seems to be 1950's. Can't find any real value of this gun and even less on the scope! Sry bout the pictures seems hard to get from the seller but saw one and looks full original at about 95% i'd say.....Would really appreciate help! Thank-you!

Welcome to the forum carojoe.

The rifle you mention is somewhat new to me. It seems that era Brno was not imported into the USA. Someone here mentioned that they are of the finest factory rifle made.

Thus I got a couple of them. I paid about $800 USA for a nice 22F in 8-57 and $650 for a nicked up but servicable 21H in 7-57. While one came with a 'weaver' neither had a very interesting Meopta on it!

You may be in a much better position choice and price wise there in Canada.

To be frank I would grab that 22F right now!

My 22f is a 8x57. I honestly don't recall what I paid, but it was under $1000 about 4 years back. As they say, they are only going to go up in price as they don't make them anymore. There is a little marking on the left side of the receiver ring with the date code. Same code should be on the barrel just forward of the receiver. Should be two #'s, mine is a 47.

I don't know anything about the scope your's carries, or if it has any value. Unfortunately, mine is not drilled/tapped. Depending on condition, the rifle is probably worth it though. Mine has all the handling characteristics of a M94 Winchester - light and points like a wand.

There is a similar one (BRNO 22F in 7X57) now on Gun Broker and the listed starting price is $2400 with a Hensoldt scope.

When I checked yesterday, no one had bid on it yet, so yours sounds like a good deal, but it is my understanding the such rifles are more available in Canada.

Just went on Gun Broker and saw a 8x57 but no 7x57...could it be already sold!! Anyways gives a good idea. Wish I lived in the U.S., decision would be much easier! Still hesitating. Can't stop thinking bout it and 1300$ seems to much being in Canada. Some decisions are hard to take in a lifetime!! eek Will try to get a couple a pictures.

I have seen them for sale from $1600 to $2500. If you have the $1300 and want the rifle, get it. There aren't many around. Count yourself fortunate to find one at all.

Factory cartridges were 6.5x57, 7x57 and 8x57 in either long or short barrels, and 7x64 and 8x60S with long barrels. The earliest production models I have owned were from 1942, with German markings. In late 1946 they stopped milling the stripper clip slot (but kept the hump). In 1949 they switched to the square bridge. The last ones were made in 1955.

I once had Griffin & Howe convert an 8x60 full stock to 9.3x62.

I have one in a 7x57 that I bought a few years ago. Great guns in my opinion.

Congratulations. It will immediately become your favorite hunting rifle. I stumbled into one several years ago in 8x57 and I agree with many who think they are the finest hunting rifles ever produced.
