That's what I thought.) With parts and then the smith work or tools to put it together were talkin $1,400 plus (est) The price of the LaRue don't look so high now and then there is piece of mind that if it don't work you send it back.

Never try to add up what you spent on a custom build. We don't build em to save money...

Looking at what I've spent on mine LaRue's price is getting cheaper.

I purchased the barrel from Montana when they were closing them out for under a 100.00 each. I also have a dealership with Brownell and purchased the part at dealer cost.

I have a dealer account at Brownells and a few others too. I enjoy putting the pieces together but I'd bet you didn't shave $400 off that gun...

The prices I listed are mostly Brownells dealer prices. Estimates are listed when specific part wasn't available.

I never purchased all the parts from Brownell's , The Free Float i ordered from another a place. The McCormick Trigger i purchased from Cheaper Than Dirt when they has them on sale. I search for the cheapest place to buy part. The most i have payed for a barrel on my AR built is the White Oak PacNor 20 Practical barrel and the Shilen 204 barrel. The STAG Stripped lower i purchased five of them for 80 something each, can't remember the exact cost. I purchased 3 more at the same price a few month back and still have two on reserve in the safe. I believe i purchased them from Dynamic Armament but according to their Web Site they are closed until JAN 31, so can't check their current price. I have built AR'S for my brothers and my Nephew and some of my close friends. I used the 6.8 marked lower on the right to build a cal specify lower for the 6.8 upper in the photo a few post back.

bea175... nice setup, and nice rifles. I have no doubt you paid what you paid, but in terms of what a guy who's looking to build ONE rifle will pay, your costs are not what mine would be.

In reference to the OP, I can say from my experience buying LaRue Tactical products over the past 6-8 years or so, they are very, very good, and their customer service is second to none. Not to mention they support our guys in uniform way over and above the call of profit.
