Is anyone using a Bell & Carlson Tikka T3 Lite Hunter Stock at this time? How do you like it? I see it is 4 oz's heavier but is it a nicer stock?

you might want to search the threads in this section - there was one a month or few back about Tikka Replacement stocks and there were several pictures of the stocks and some guys that had purchased them

I have one on order and it should be here Tuesday. I'll let you know if I like it or not. It's for my T3 223. Other members who already have them really like the stock.

I've got them on two of my Tikka T3's (30-06 and 6.5x55) . I like the feel of them and they fit the guns very well. In hand they feel more like the T3 wood stock than the T3 fiber stock. They are very rigid, have a built in recoil lug, have a better recoil pad and are a more solid stock. I'm planning a 35 Whelen T3. When I get that done I'll be putting a B&C on it.

The one instance where I've chosen not to use a B&C is keeping the rifle as light as possible. I have a stainless T3 in .308 that I cut the barrel down to 19 in. I have not put the B&C on it just because I wanted to make it as light and compact as possible.

I sure wish someone could give a accurate ACTUAL weight.. 4 oz more wouldn't bother me but 6 would...
IIRC the factory stock is 28 oz.

I took the B&C stock off my 6.5 and took it and two factory stocks to a local UPS store and had them weighed. Here are the results:

Tikka T3 factory wood stock: 28 oz.
Tikka T3 factory synthetic: 28 oz.
B&C Medalist stock: 35 oz.

Thanks for taking the time, and giving us a report. I'm surprised the factory wood weighs the same as the synthetic!

My T3 in the BC stock weighs 6lbs-8oz. bare naked. I feel it is an excellent stock with great fit and finish

I had one on my T3 but in the end I could not give up the feel of the factory synthetic stock.

I wish the B&C shared the exact same factory pattern or even a duplication of the "Remington Classic" pattern. An action as slim and light as the Tikka deserves a stock with a smaller wrist and slender belly and forearm.

I like the palm swell, for me it is very comfortable fit. This stock was derived from the Sako A7 Tecomate stock.

to my eye- it is leaps and bounds better looking than the factory stock. Any comments on new stock vs factory as far as recoil? Am betting the B and C is more enjoyable to shoot.

The heaviest caliber T3 I have is the 06. I haven't found it to matter recoil wise between the B&C or factory.

My only complaint with the factory synthetic is the slick feel. In all honesty though I've never had it be a problem in the field.

The recoil lug in my factory wood fits loose where as the synthetics are in the stocks very tight. If I was going to use the wood stock getting that recoil lug glassed in would be top priority.

My friend fixed that on my T3 stocks with a wood burning iron using a fine tip. He stippled all the areas over the factory checkering on the forearm and palm. By varying the tip of the iron and the technique you can have any texture from "roughed up" to "bloody hands". Looks great when painted over or left natural.

I've seen that picture posted before. I think it is one of the nicest modifications and one color paint jobs of a factory stock. I've got a couple that I would be happy to send you for the texture job.
