I purchased a used rifle from a genteleman that had it built by a well known gunsmith. The prior owner said he only put twenty shots down the tube. Rifle came from smith with test target shooting Federal 165gr TSX at .50". When I started working loads up for this rifle I had a few misfires and accuracy was 2" at best. I tried 5 different bullet and powder combinations and alot of different seating depths also. This rifle is chambered in 300 Win Mag and I use Federal 215M primers. When I was shooting this weekend I shot some of the same loads in another 300 just to compare the depth that the firing pin is hitting the primer. There is no comparison. So my question is can firing pin incosistancies lead to poor accuracy.
