wyliec, the clerk said new production on the .308. The '06 was made last year. The only parts difference I see are the sights and fluted barrel. Sights are a neutral asset with me, but I do like the barrel and the closer to six pounds naked in .308 is most welcome. I am also neutral on the wood grain on the receiver. Big difference between recoil on a BAR and a same weight/caliber bolt gun.
Frog and Canazes, thanks for your input. My experience with the BAR dates back to about 1972. They haven't changed much since then, although most all of mine have been Type I. Thanks, jack

These things seem pricey to an old fart, but the whole rig is about the same price as a barrel and scope mount for my Blaser. Plus, The BAR will take anything from a pair of #54 Weavers on up!!!! jack

Sweet, I like the idea of a takedown rifle. They sure are a beauty of a rifle.
It is better to be judged by 12 than to be carried by 6.

The manager/buyer is not as positive about the Zenith .308 as the clerk was (surprise - surprise). He is going to call the Browning rep and see what he can get working for me. jack
