What caliber Kiwi? I believe these were only checkered one year.....1940 so they are uncommon.

Not an early F in 38-55, they weren't chambered for it.

Hopefully it will turn out to be an 1899F in 38-55 for ya.

I think he was referring to two separate rifles Joe.

I thought him and Johnno were talking early 99F's.

Hopefully they weren't talking about 99's in general because if all they can find is two of them they're collecting the wrong guns.

Those late checkered F's are hard to fine here in the States...and in .250! Nice find.

Note that the brl has the last three digits stamped on the bottom.

Graham's is s'n 377084 and mine is 378578 According to Murray's they were both made in 1937. Wonder if they came over on the same shipment. From a down under point of view its interesting that the only two I know of are both N.Z. rifles, and Graham states he may have found another also. I think even if you can't buy it mate, it would be good to gets some photo's of it if you can. Of course there being so many available in N.Z. you could do the right thing and let me have it LOL

Here are a couple of my old girl.

Gawl Dammmmn.

I'd give up a LOT to have a pre war checkered F that looked like that.

That gun or one just like it is definitely on my short list.

If I ever find one, might even have to sell a kidney and dig up a couple of them mason jars I got buried in the back yard wink

That is one handsome gun Johno.

Envious and jealous.

Not sure why the condition was so high on my one, I picked it up at auction in Wellington N.Z. a few years back. Most N.Z. rifles of that age have been well hunted. Take astab at what one of these in similar condition would make on G.B. over there, then i'll break your heart and tell you what I paid.

No Norm, took those pics this morning. I am not into " what's my 99 worth " Just thought it might be a good excersize to see the difference in values.

Graham, sorry if I have hi jacked your thread. Did'nt mean to do that. Tell us about the 38-55, thats another scarce one down here

Rick, its 250-3000, and stamped on the barrel with s/n same as Graham's. Wonder if they came on the same shipment.

Without a doubt the 22 h.p is the most common down here in H&Fs
My dream is to find a cheqered F in 22 h.p, don't think that will happen in my time.

Come on Don the memory must be going mate, remember you agreed to swap it to me for a rare EG, in 300 sav. Ive even pulled it out of the tomato patch and cleaned it down.

Your one is a very high condition example is it not?
