I keep thinking about a .264 Win. Mag in a CLR/NULA hybrid but haven't done it yet as I really like my M70.
What about a 6.5 Remington Mag. It's a M28 action but you could seat the bullets way out there utilizing all of the powder space of a more "efficient" cartridge. You could likely? get away with a shorter barrel, ie. 23-25" in a #2 contour making the rifle a little more handy than a 26" .264. Basically a 6.5-284 with a belt that might feed a little smoother. Negatives.... brass availability... possibly but that is really just an excuse to call more gunstores looking for brass + ????. You know what I mean! Finally, you would still be a member of the 6.5 "looney" club!!!
Anyone out their have a 6.5 Remington Mag in a ULA or NULA? If so, how do you like it?
"Flight of ideas" now for you DSM III guys but a 350 Rem. Mag on a CLR platform could be cool too!

I like the idea of a #2 with a 23" in the 6.5 rem mag. I've taken a gander more than once or twice at doing a build around the round.

Would vote a 6.5SAUM a better platform if not just for brass sake...

Mark,
Thanks for your vote as I respect your taste in rifles and cartridges... I will likely succumb someday to the "Mashburn Madness"!!!
Woofer,
I can't remember the case capacity for the SAUM line up. How does it compare to the 6.5 Rem. Mag? I would think the 28 action would be way overkill (length) for the SAUM case. I would think the 6.5 Rem. would overall be a more reliable feeder as well.
I was hoping there was a 6.5 Rem Mag ULA or NULA owner out there.
