I found a S&W Model 19 - 4" barrel, which I believe is referred to as a Combat Magnum today NIB in a shop I frequent.

What is a fair price for these guns? Been looking for a Model 66 for a while but from what I understand this is basically the same gun. It was priced at $499 but I'm thinking I can get it for $450 or so.

Thanks,

Andy

I have a 2 1/2" Model 19 and they are a beautiful pistol, mine was in almost pristine condition, I gave $500 for it on GB, about a year ago. The 4" model was a little more common but I would think if you could get the one you talking about for $450 with the S&W wood grips you would be doing quite well. Mine had rubber grips so I got those off of her before the sun set.

NIB 4 inch for $450 would not stay at the shop if I was visiting.

$450 is a steal! A dash 4 model should still have the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder. Around here it would bring $550-$600

I would be at the shop in the morning when it opens with cash in hand!

It is out of state so I will probably have to get it shipped to my FFL unless a relative can pick it up for me.

I felt like it was a heck of a good deal, appreciate you fellas confirming that for me.

I didn't look close as to whether or not it was a 19-4 but it was a stainless Model 19 with 4" barrel, and still had cleaning kit with it. Older white box if I recall correctly.

There's no such thing as a stainless model 19, it was nickel, add $25 or more.

Indeed!
It's either a nickel 19 which would coincide with the earlier gray box or it's a model 66 (stainless).
With the older box you're probably looking at a nickel 19 and it is well worth the $450 as described.

I just picked up a Nickel 19-4 in excellent condition, no box, but factory wood grips for $500 at a local show. Great shooting guns and some of the smoothest actions you'll ever find. NIB $500 is very fair, I'd snatch it up if its pinned and recessed.

Yep, that's a good price. As previously stated, the Model 19 and the Model 66 are the same revolver. The Model 66 is the Stainless steel version of the Model 19. With the box and if it is a pinned and recessed model, even better deal.
