I know this powder is kinda new but surely some of you have had to try it in your 308. Velocity is supposed to be better than Varget in the 155 gr. bullet range and clean burning. I have searched and can't find out much for actual results anywhere.

Rumor mill at AR15.com says it'll outrun Varget and meter through a Dillon powder measure. That sounds like my kinda powder:

I JUST worked up a .308 Win load for Michigan whitetail using the 130 grain Barnes TTSX. There was no load data for this listed anywhere, so I emailed Hodgdon who sent me a load for the Speer 130 grain HP and was told to work up from there. I went with a COAL of 2.820" as this puts the bullet .050" off the lands in my rifle (Barnes recommends .030" to .070"). So, I started with 53 grains and worked at .5 grain increments until I got very faint ejector marks at 56.0 There was no change in bolt opening at all and the primer looks very good. My final load gives me 3250 fps after a 3 shot group. I just loaded 10 for the final test and we will see how they do for me.

Magazine article says it is also magic for no copper fouling and even got rid of previous fouling from another powder combo.
PLEASE...you users let us know how it works for you in the field. Love the new stuff coming down the pike and this appears to do what it's supposed to!

Ehryk....

Wow those results would indicate that this powder is pretty slow burning. Quite a bit more so than re15, varget, 748, 4064 and even 4320. Looks like it almost gets close to re17/4350 burn rate.....not quite but surprisingly slow.

It's supposed to be just one step slower than BL(C)2, so I wouldnt say a lot slower. 130s come out pretty fast from a 26" tube either way hehehehe

I still say the stuff looks awfully similar to 748. _Perhaps_ a 'slow-lot' of 748, but it surely looks similar from here...

Nice spruced-up marketing, though; good job, Hodgy!

Well, I went out to try to see how these grouped. Wind was 30 to 40 mph so no cronograph. I should have saved my time and components lol Even from the prone, the wind was bouncing me around and I was having a hard time keeping the crosshairs inside the 2" circle, let alone shoot a decent group. Ah well, I just HAD to try it. I ended up with just under a 4.5" spread. Ugh Now to wait for the wind to stop, or at least slow to reasonable levels.

I've shot a few rounds through my 308 with CFE 223 powder. So far, I can say it gives good velocities and at least decent accuracy. This 308 is like many out there, it seems to give decent groups with almost any bullet and any powder. Haven't had a yahoo group with this powder yet, but a 150 gr Horn at 2980 fps and about 1.2" ain't shabby. It did not group well with the 150 gr E-Tip and Hodgdon's max load listed as 2990 fps - shame would have been a heck of an elk load.

Hey all,

Between work and super windy days, hockey and a new GF, I FINALY got time to get this group reshot. When I started there was a light steady breeze from the 12 but starting with about shot 4, the wind picked up to the point where 4 times I had to stand my tripod with the CED M2 sensors. That was frustrating. Still, the group was good enough even with the winds gusting to 26 mph. The temp was 71 F, humidity is bone dry as this part of CO always is (10%), elevation is 5540 ft and the skies were generally clear.

The first two shots were fouling shots but even they only opened up the group a little. The overal spread was 2.26" and with the wind, I do not feel bad about that. Even more so as my target was one of those wire stands and was waving all around. Overall, I would feel perfectly comfortable taking this load back to Michigan for some whitetail harvesting and I bet it would be just fine with mulies
