USMC Hollywood Marine Electronics School Crypto School 16 months at Mag-12 Comm. Tech Shop 9/67-1/69 Tet was noisy, Charlie got our bomb dump, lost part of my hearing when the shock wave hit. Been spooky around loud noises ever since. Some how made 3 R&R's to Bangkok, took the edge off.

guess I'm old now!
Ft. Campbell for basic in the summer of 1967 Ft. Sill for Arty AIT and then on to track school
Chu Lai on Pearl Harbor Day in 1967 and was sent to Gator with Bravo/3rd/16th in the Americal Div. Left Gator in the late spring of 1968, and did ops with 101st, 196th, and at least one with the 198th infantry down south. Came back for a complete refit on Gator, and headed north for real fun. Ended up doing a couple months in the Que Son Valley and finally ended that op out on the Lao border. From there we went to work with a SF A Team detatchment at A102. There were some infantry east of us but not much, and most of the recreation we had was with these guys. Later we went on three gun ops with 101st and 196th infantry again, and much later got to know the Hiep Duc Ridge too well. Saw about twenty LZ's, and shot with everybody from Marines to SF from time to time (15 months). Came home a civilian, and ain't looked back!

few folks have any idea about just what the 506th Infantry is about. The name 506th is hallowed ground in the game of mortal combat! I have several members in my VFW post, and we often go thru several buckets of beer together. Be proud of where you come from brother!
