I recently just got a Kahr cw45. I've shot probably about 150 rounds through it. Today I went down and the first shot fired and the gun chambered another round. The slide did not go all the way forward. The slide is now stuck about 1/8 inch from fully forward. It will move about an eighth inch but will not fire the round and the slide will not move. The position it is stuck in is too far forward to take the slide off. Are there any other ways to get the slide off? Ive run out of ideas. Any advice is welcome.

Thanks!

You should be able to open the slide with just a hard quick jerk.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Yep.. And possibly a little tap with a non-marring hammer coupled with backward pull on the slide..

The operative word there is LITTLE re: tap.. You didn't mention if this was factory ammo or reloads.. If factory, examine closely the case when it comes out and also every other loaded round in the box. Check for any deformed cases.. I've had that happen a couple times.. Not the gun's fault - it was the ammo.

Place the face of the slide, the small flat above the muzzle, against a table edge or work bench top and give the pistol a sharp shove.

. . . or put it in a holster and bring it to a gunsmith and ask him to unchamber the round. I don't mind messing with a gun, but when it gets to hammering chabmered guns or pounding them on table edges to do an administrative unload, I would just call in an expert.

I wouldn't do that either nor did I advise the OP to do that.

Not 'hammering'... A gentle tap will do while applying rearward pressure on the slide....

Bubbas hammer things.. laugh

I don't consider myself to be a Bubba, but I don't have any technical skills, either. I'm much better at writing checks than fixing stuff. (I am good at breaking stuff, though.)

Put the slide against a wooden bench edge and bump the frame forward. Or take it to a Smith that will do just that.
