Just got my Ruger Hornady .17 Hornet custom build back from straight shooter supply in Oregon!!!

Have ammo- will be testing this weekend!

built with a 20" lilja fluted .920 bull barrel with vais muzzle brake. Stock inletted for the bull barrel, action bedded- barrel free floated and trigger tuned to 2lbs.

Sorry for the poor photo but the best I can do in my mancave smile

if you are happy with it that's all that matters........yes i am sure the muzzle break was required. lord knows a 12 pound .17 centerfire has atrocious recoil and muzzle jump........:)

What did they charge to do the work? I know Savage has 4 rifles that will be coming out soon in 17 Hornet , But could like a Ruger re-done

The rifle weighs in at 8lbs with the scope rings...the muzzle brake may not be necessary but I am trying to duplicate the performance I get from my .17 hmr....zero movement of the crosshairs when shooting with a 20x scope...and since the gun was already there I thought I would just have them out the brake on at the same time. I will shoot it with and without it and see if it was actually necessary. Either way I think it looks neat on there.

You would have to get a quote from Shawn to do the work...I have quite a bit of extra things I paid for on top of an expensive lilja barrel so not sure what a basic "conversion" would run you.

..if you think that's bad try the 17 Remington,..bigger case,,...lots more powder and the recoil? shocked....makes one shudder to think about it...wicked. grin

I like it....but I bet you find the brake is excess baggage. does look kind of badass though. wink
