I've been told that casting wheel weights alone isn't the way to go. i've done it and haven't noticed any problems, what are you guys using?

The uninformed spread myths like that to make them self's look informed! For most things WW (clip on) make great boolits!! But if you believe them just box up your WW and ship to me!! Will see to get them used up and you do not have to worry about them any more. If and only IF you have fill out problems then add 1/2-1% tin. Clint

Thats ALL i use in my 45 auto. It truly depends on what your chambering it in. In a muzzle loader it may be too hard. In higher velocity rounds it may be a tad soft. But of middle of the road rounds I don't see the point in using anything else.

Also- some of the people that say its not a good mix, are probably not using a good lube to begin with and thats why they are getting leading.

I've cast over 1000#'s of ww's, it's all I use. Works great at 700 fps in handgun plinker loads, 1200 fps magnum handgun loads, and 2000 fps rifle loads. I've never had a problem with it's performance in regards to accuracy or leading.

My only comment to new casters is, make sure you let the mold get good and hot before you start casting, and have the alloy hot enough to produce a frosted bullet. If you want a nice shiny bullet by all means $plurge on some plumbers tin to add to the alloy, but it is totally unecessary.

I've had no problems filling out molds from 30 cal to 50 cal, 100gr to 500 gr. You have to learn how each mold likes to be cast, but asside from that it's great stuff.

My only beefs are that the tire shop that used to sell me a 5 gal bucket for $20 stopped doing so, and a buddy used to trade me a 5 gal bucket for casting him 100 bullets for his 480 as his source dried up. I've got a couple hundred pounds stashed but would like to have some more on hand.

Can't find any WW here. All the shops I have checked have thier suppliers come and pick it up to reclaim.

Little tip I found. I will size and lube A LOT at a time. I use the round blue metal cookie tins you see a lot around Christmas (swedish shortbread..I think).I cut cardboard for the layers and stand the bullets up. It keeps them from getting dinged and all in one direction for cast loading.

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.
