Have a Mark X with the iron sights removed. Shoots well, I just hate looking at the slot head screws filling the holes. Any way to fill them that looks clean without having to reblue?? Thanks

You get long filler screws, run em in w/locktite, file off the slots (carefully!) and use some touch up blue to color them.

They won't vanish 100% but almost.

just rub a wax crayon into the hole, buff it up with a piece of coarse close. you can raid the kids coloring kit and find one similar color to the gun you're filling black or silver depending on the firearm. when you want to remove just use a heat gun and melt the wax away.

The long screws I just might do. Imagine if I surround the hole with Magic Blue Tape I'll at least guard against the worst AH marks from the file.

The crayons sound like at least a good trial run, maybe a permanent solution. I've thought about using black stained epoxy and trying to contour it to the barrel with a plastic card or such when it has set up a bit. Thanks guys.

I just put a drop of Loktite on the plug screws from the scope mounting screw holes. It's not as good looking as the long screw method, but simply with less chance of buggering up a good rifle.

If you don't have them, your gunsmith probably has a few (thousand) in a drawer somewhere.

The scope mounting guy at Sportsmans Warehouse gave me at least 20 filler screws for free. When they mount scopes, the screws just pile up.

Frankly, if you don't want to reblue, I can't think of a thing that will look better than properly fitted filler screws.

If cut to the right depth and the heads contoured to match the barrel they don't look bad at all. To get the contour, once you get close unscrew a few turns, stroke with a file, and screw back in to see how you're doing. Adjusting the screw slot as necessary of course. Bonus points if you get the screw slots to line up.
