Have some 12guage 2 3/4 activ hulls about 20 yrs old. Anybody know if they still make them? Tried a search found nothing. Always liked loading them and hopeing to be able to get more someday.

I've seen people shooting them, but never thought to ask them what they are loading in them. Don't know if they are still making the activ wads or not.

Not much of an answer but, I hope it helps some.

Nope, don't make them anymore. Here's a link to a short article about them - http://www.ballisticproducts.com/bpi/articleindex/articles/activ_info1/activhulls.htm

I load buckshot loads and heavy pheasant loads in the active hulls.

I use the wads available from Ballisticproducts.

The acive hull will not stand many loadings with Blue Dot, and they are not a hull for light loads due to their large case capacity.

Multi-hulls are not a hull you should seek out for reloading, anyway.

Remington uni-body hulls is what you would preferably start with, unless you are at the extreme edge of payload/velocity (i.e. you need maximum internal space).

With newer powders like Longshot, we can do stuff with the unibody hulls that were impossible before. HTH, Dutch.

I actually put out a request on a few forums last year and came into about 1500 or so of them.. There are ways to make them target hulls.. Back in the day, I'd use a 1 oz Winchester wad to load 1 1/8 oz of shot and a 7/8 oz wad to load 1 oz.

I had a favorite steel shot load utilizing the BPGS-BP12 wad system that threw 7/8 oz of 2's or 3's to about 1450 fps utilizing Herco powder. I think I bought once fired and some new hulls from a few people in hopes that I would have enough to shoot that steel shot load for at least a few years. I still have aboout 1000 mixed Activ wads that came with the hulls that I got last year.. White, green, red, and blue wads which have some load data on the bags.

I really liked the ACTIV factory loads back when I was hunting pheasants. I also found them to be great to reload. There are some sitting in boxes in the basement that I reloaded for clay birds - should really get back to doing that some time as well. I also have some brand-new, primed ones that I got from Ballistic Products. Sorry to hear that they are no longer made.

I have a bunch of the brown 2 3/4" Actives, I shot 1 5/8 oz loads in them including buckshot, wonderful hulls.

I still have a few boxes of steel Active shotshells. They are great for out here on the coast. In the salt enviroment I hunt in it is constant battle with rust on the shotshell brass(brass washed steel)head. No problem with Actives, Wanda and some of the Herters were good also but they needed a special over shot wad.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

There isn't as much data for the Activ hull and steel shot anymore. I have some older data for the 2 3/4" and 3" hull. At the time it was thought that the 7/8 oz was the favored weight so there really wasn't a whole lot of research done for anything heavier. I could dig up some data if anyone wants it and could scan what I have..
