I heard, on the internet, that the market for these old Winchesters was about to dry up. Crap..... well I guess I might as well rid myself of all the boatanchor/tomato stakes...

Thanks buddy. I much prefer it on the 375 than when it was on the 30-06 fwt. It actually made the fwt weigh more than factory and balance was not good. It actually balances very well with this heavy barreled 375. I'm glad I didn't get rid of it since it has worked out very nicely. I'm hoping you'll get your 338 from Gene Simillion soon and post some pics. I know I keep saying this and it may seem I'm more impatient than you on this, but damn.... . That's going to be one bad azzed 338!!!! I'm curious what it's going to look like and how it will balance out w/ the new stock and S&B scope. Keeping my fingers crossed! Eric

Love seeing this thread revived from time to time. Me too. It's one thread that we don't argue and fight about... We just like looking at old (or new) Winchester model 70's...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

BSA, I wanted a D'Arcy Echolds Legend stock built by Mac for my 338 win mag, He is out, I can tell the Borden Rimrock is to thin in wrist, for that heavy cal. I love it for the 25-06, what should I be looking for as my second pick? I will not shoot it in the wood stock for fear or splitting it.. very best WinPoor

The stock in my pic is from a Winlite(made by Mcmillan)if you can find one. They're right beefy in the wrist. I had mine hydro-dipped for a wood finish then shot it with a clear matte finish cause was high gloss. That's NOT the best pic to show it though.

I'm also thinking the wrist on my 338 might be a little flimsy as well. I have a sneaking suspicion that the Brown precision on that rifle is a Brown pounder because it is so damn light!!!!!! I was actually thinking about putting my 338 in something like an Echols legend as well. I do love the ergos of the Brown precision, just think it might work better on a fwt rifle instead of a 338...

LOL, well I missed that entirely...No, it's .308. I thought he was asking the year because FN ended up moving production to Portugal so these were only made in SC for a couple of years.

Both of those rifles are very nice. I especially like your pre war 257 wby. Who built that one, if you don't mind me asking? It is exceptionally nice!!!
