It looks like a wearable bivy bag that can be unzipped to be a tarp. Supposedly Norwegian military issue...

Looks like the typical "one-size-fits-all" military solutions. No proper hood to keep your torso insulation from getting soaked from precip.

Having said that, I am a fan of wearable bags like the Rock Wren/Wallcreeper.

Do a google search for jerven as. They also have information on english i think. There are several different types. A splendid piece of kit that has kept me warm and dry on many hunts and during military service.

I like the idea and I searched for Jerven bag and found the home page. Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it looks to me like they are charging over $1,000 for the cheapest bag and some of them are over $2,000.

Do you think I'm reading this right?

What planet do you think they are from?

They are priced in Norwegian kroner. In USD they range from 2oo-450 dollars, far from cheap as most things are here.

That explains it. Yes, expensive but not extra terrestrial. Thanks.

It's been a long time since I've used one but I seem to remember that U.S. military standard issue poncho liners are a lot like that. They have buttons or snaps instead of zippers.

Yes, have used those a bit also in the army. Jerven is more solid and comfy, and a bit more usable for different types of shelter making. I see the Jerven bag and the Norrna recon pack as the best hunting/outdoor items that is made in Norway. A lot may disagree.

Depends on model, but they start at a little over a pound, and up to over four pounds for the extreme model. That one can also be used as a sleeping bag under pretty cold conditions, but it will not be your best night.
