No pics, because I haven't built it yet, but similr need.
Steel plate with two updide down "U" hooks welded to the back, about 2/3 or 3/4 up and near the sides. Chains with "D" rings for fastening to support, last link holding plate by upside down "U" hook.
Easy, cheap to fix, can use any horizontal bar for support.

Assuming you can drive out and setup your steel it doesn't get any cheaper or easier than this. Kinda bulky though but very solid.

The top cros bar has pieces welded on it where the legs slip on. So it comes apart in 5 pieces

These brackets sold by "Ace", and using your 1/2" rebar. By aalf at 2012-05-04

Mine is portable, cheap, and very easy to obtain. Go to a thrift store and buy a couple of aluminum folding walkers. Use a light chain and carribeaners to suspend the gong between the handles. Get some paracord and tentstakes.
Tie the cord(6ft or so) to each leg and pound a stake in the ground. The setup is stable and takes about 2 minutes to set up. I have hit it with everything from .22lr to 416 Rigby.
Works great! I will see if I can dig up a pic of the setup.

The link doesn't appear to be working. I can get the product button to work, but nothing else.

Put this together this afternoon. Copied the Ace angle concept with 1/2" black water pipe. Fits 1/2" rebar inside or could use 1" EMT on the outside, as I did for the center span. 10" circle, legs are 5 foot long.
