2 yrs ago, a hunting buddy took a nice buck at a lasered 262 yards (if memory serves) with his Ruger .243. It was hit square in the chest and didn't go over 25 feet after hit. I was impressed and thought, at the time, that my 25-06 probably wouldn't have performed any better. I don't recall the specific bullet he used but, it was a factory-bought Hornady.

This one was a tick under 600 yards...
