Well, I have bought it...and love this little rifle! Now I am pondering the trigger recall fix. Presently, mine does not display the telltail signs of a faulty trigger assembly (but that does not preclude this from appearing in the future). Can anyone speak from experience on how the new Remington replacement trigger assemblys perform, pull and creap? While I haven't measured mine I would estimate it to be somewhere in the 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 #pull with almost no creep at all. It shoots very nicely! I would hate to replace it with a heavy pull factory clunker!! Any advise??

I "had" a 660 in .308 for about an hour. Bought at a shop on my way to the range and when I got there one of my good friends who lets me use his cabin in the middle of no-where Maine was there...he saw the gun, offered to buy it and I never even fired a shot from it... But since I already had a .308/600 with the vent rib it was no great loss. He used it for his still hunting rifle for 7-8 years and sold it just last year...

As to the trigger don't waste your time having Remington "fix" it...buy a Rifle Basix or Timney and just replace it. I put a Rifle Basix in my 600 and a finer trigger is not possible...

The 600/660 were way ahead of their time and I only wish I had bought one back in the late 60s when I started hunting than the 700/06 I did....

What has been said is basically true, but I remember the one I had came with a 20 inch barrel not an 18.5 inch like the original 600's.
Mine is now a full custom in .25-284 with a McMillian Mountain Rifle stock. It has an Rifle Basix trigger that I'm very pleased with.
I've been so happy with mine, that I've considered buying another and simply having the barrel turned down, and doing a McMillian M7 stock for it. Would make a great, light weight hunting rifle. E

Thanks for the heads up, I think that I'll call them on Monday and ask about the less expensive of the 2 Remington 660s in 308.

I have a few 600/660/600Mohawks around.

Have 1 with a 700 MR-DM 260 barrel that I put together, but never use as often as some of the other 260s, so I'm going to pull the barrel and put a 1-8" ROT 22-250 barrel on it.
