I am in the market for a scout scope for my Ruger Gunsite Scout and have been looking at the Vortex 2x20 Crossfire model. It's been discontinued by Vortex but I can still find them online. Has anyone used this scope and if so how do you like it? Thanks

Happened to take a look over @ the SWFA site. Although they show that scope with "extended eye relief",,the only eye relief measurement shown is 20"...Could be a pistol scope only? Be careful.
Rifle scout scopes need usable eye relief from between 8" to around 14"....
If that Crossfire has usable eye relief of 20" minimum or more, then it won`t work as a scout scope.

Thanks for the tip. I will have to research the eye relief a little more on that model.

All I can find is that 20" eye relief. Some reviewers are saying it works ok on a scout rifle but I'm not willing to risk it. The search for an optic continues!

You may have to spend more on a 2x scout scope in order to get the correct eye relief. SWFA lists the Burris 2x20 pistol scope with either 10" to 20" of eye relief or 10" to 24" of eye relief.
I`ve seen that scope mounted on a Savage 308 scout rifle. That scope may be your better alternative.
Some pistol scopes can double as scout scopes.

Take a look at these as well.
2x20 Swift Premier and the 2x20 Swift Reliant. Both listed on SWFA. Both listed with 9.8" of eye relief which is about perfect ER for a scout scope.

You might also consider the two variable scout scopes from Leupold Custom Shop. VX-II 1.5-4x2mm ($384.00)or the new VXR 1.5-5x33mm ($579.99) both were designed to fit the Ruger Scout rifle. The VXR has firdot reticle. Both have a good selection of reticles to choose from.

Thanks Tommy but the Leupolds are out of my price range. The highest Im willing to go would probably be $250 for the Burris Scout model and even that is going to hurt! Origianlly I wanted to try a cheaper scout or pistol scope to see if I even liked the setup before buying a more expensive model. But finding an inexpensive model with decent reviews is proving more difficult then I thought it would.

The Burris Scout Scopes are pretty good. The one I had, the 2.7X model, would have worked better with a little less magnification, say the 1.7X model, and a heavier reticle. E
