Simple Green! Let it sit awhile, then do it again. Clean it enough so that a real bore cleaner will work. Then switch to it and save a lot of money.

I tried Simple Green with my MZ and I can tell you one thing about using it ...
DO NOT LET IT SIT IN A BORE OVERNIGHT !!!
It will rust.

Regarding the electrical device, I have everything I need to build one. Does the electrode get the positive side and the barrel gets the negative side?
Current flows from negative to positive.

Current flows from negative to positive. That's it. Ground on gun.

Current flows from negative to positive. I don't remember which. I have a good friend who's an elec. engineer and he just happened to be around when I did it. If I remember correctly,...if it's hooked up backwards you can end up plating your rifle barrel. So do some research,....then again, he might have just been messing with me....

I have an RCBS electronic bore cleaner on the shelf. I used it twice......about fifteen years ago.
Sweet's 7.62, JB bore paste, and a little Hoppe's #9 to coat the bore when done have obsoleted the electronic unit.
