What is a fair price for a Marlin Model 60, clean bore, blueing perfect, but a few small dings in the wood? Looks like it has not been fired much. Thanks in advance for replies.

Wouldn't get $50 from me for it ... but with that said, several really like the Model 60, so I'm not best one to ask.

Half of whatever they sell for new would be my feeling. And with one of those I would want to fire it first to make sure it works as they are pretty much the bottom of the barrel when it comes to 22's and aren't all that reliable.

Used, $75/85 out the door. Marlin's made a lot of them and sold them cheap for a long time. From what I've seen they're a good knock around 22.

A guy I shoot with has one he got from Wal-Mart or K-Mart with a cheap 4x scope. One morning we killed a lot of ground squirrels at ranges from around 50 to 100 yards. I had a Clark 10-22 with a Leupold 2-7. Neither rifle had any malfunctions as I recall and he killed as many as I did.

It's something to celebrate when I can get all 19 rounds thru my old 60 without it gagging at least once.

That said, it's the most accurate .22 I own, including a CZ 455 boltgun..................

And it was my first rifle, when I turned 13, so it isn't going anywhere, ever.

Mountain, in the condition you described, ive seen them go for anywhere from 75 to 125 dollars, in some areas of the country. You might want to check out (Rimfire Central) theres an area just for the marlin 60s. There not a bad gun, like any other gun, just clean it ever so often. Ive had mine since 77, it still shoots fine, I think I payed around 70 for it new back then, with a cheap scope on it. Like everything eles, especaily 22s, the prices have gone up.

115-125.00 in that condition around here

You can pick up the earlier (without the last shot bolt stop) in fair/good condition from 90-110.00.

Anything priced less is gone immediately.

I bought one in the late 80's new as a teenager, probably have put 20,000+ rounds through it without, been a great gun.

Thanks for the replies. This one has the last shot bolt stop. They are asking 120.00 for this one.

Mountain, for a 120 bucks, I think I might take a chance on it. Just offer them say, 75 first and see if theyll budge on the price. But a 120 dollars, is not un heard of price for a decent 22 rifle. It would be nice if you could fire it first, but most gun shops dont have a firing range. Good luck, let us know what you decide.

I have one other 22 rifle. It is a Ruger 77/22 and is a really nice shooting rifle. I have been watching local gun boards trying to get a 10/22 without the paper trail BG checks. This came up so I may get it for now and keep watching for a 10/22.

I've had a model 60 for the last 11 years. I'd hate to know how many rounds have been put through that rifle over the years. Funny thing is..I always used it as a beater...after 11 years of use..reliable use I might ad, I finally stripped it down for the first time in its life about 3 months back and cleaned it. Always has been reliable for me, always functions and goes bang when I need it to. I'll pay 100-120$ for a good cond. working m60 any day

I bought my first one for $86 new in 1993. It was very accurate with cheap ammo, but I sent it down the road. It was very reliable until I put 600 rounds of Federal Lightning ammo through it without cleaning the action. It stopped working until I cleaned it, then went back to being reliable. Careful with cleaning solvents and gun scrubber on the receiver, it stripped the paint/coating off of mine. I'd give $60-75 for another if I had a mind to buy one.

Nothing is wrong with it, it's NEVER worked 100%, even when new. CCI MiniMags are about all I feed it now, they work better than anything else in it, but it's never been 100%, even straight out of the box.

It's a 1971 vintage gun, bought at a Coast to Coast Hardware store, at the same time Grandma bought Grandpa his rifle (identical to mine). It shoots great, and has killed a truckload of squirrels and rabbits in it's day, and will kill more, too.

I don't always shoot .22's, but when I do, I prefer the Marlin 60. Grew up with the family Glenfield made by Marlin. Many years later I finally bought my Marlin 60 at the Wal after Christmas sale in 2002 for $110. Went to Bass Pro and put a Simmons 4x on it for another $50. Wonderful plinker and squirrel getter. Shoots rings around my cousin's 10-22.

New MSRP is around a couple hundred, a bit less on sale. Blue Book (and whatever connection to reality it bears) says $125 for 98%, $100 for 95%, $85 for 90%. That said, I don't think I'd sell my rifle w/o scope for $125 today.

By the time you found one on Gunbroker, had it shipped and paid FFL transfer fee, you'd spend the 120 you were talking about. I wouldn't blame you if you bought it, just doesn't seem to be a screaming deal is all. Hope this helped. Good luck.
