You really didn't take a picture of your deer Jeff?

Why did you dramatize your hunt like you did then?

If he'd been a big buck I'd have done the hike back up to the tent for the camera (phone). For a 2x3? Why? [bleep]' tent was a long way, the wrong direction, uphill and I had a deer down in 80+ heat. Screw that.

I knew I'd catch it from the howling monkey contingent but I didn't care then and don't care now. They'd be howling about something regardless.

All you got to please is your self

Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote.

Jeff,
I'll take your word for it that it happened just as you said, but a few posters made some valid points. You had your camera for pictures of fish, scenery, camp and a bloody knife but none of the deer that got blood on the knife. However, you do have a plausible explanation.

Thanks mcmurph. Had a great trip, soul-stirring great, and while on some level I wish I'd held out for Mr. Big, I wanted to get a deer. Mission accomplished.

I'll step back and let the attention-whore drama queens have their fun now. Thanks to all who helped me with advice and well wishes.

The next day I went back to buttress up the shade but a day old, stiff, dirty (dragged) buck with his tongue hanging out and dull eyes wasn't seeming very photogenic so I didn't. I do kind of regret that now.

He was a 2x3 with good body size so, what, a 2.5 year old buck? My buddy also shot a 2x3. Mine was considerably bigger. Not that it matters with a 2x3.... grin...

I'm totally addicted to this spot-and-stalk high desert mulie hunting and can't wait to do it again.

Jeff here are some bad pics of "mid-size" mule deer.

second one is a daylight, probably 40 yards.

Doubletap, the knife pic was later, back up at camp, where the phone was. I turned it on briefly and took the pic of the tent and of the knife. The fishing, scenery pics, etc were all taken back when things were normal- IE I had a charger, and my phone in my pocket, as per usual. I've got tons more of those pics... including me and my buddy Jerry packing out HIS 2x3 (which was much, much easier).

Christ in a cracker guys... you want pics of horns and wrapped meat? Signed affadavits from my hunting buddies? crazy

Here. Here's the deer (or part of him):

I don't want a pic of anything.

I'm glad you got your deer and I still think you are a moron.

Your freezer needs defrosting.

...... and if THAT'S the root of this-- that guys think I didn't take a picture so I could exaggerate my deer-- let me disavow y'all of that notion.

You know how old deer are when they sprout forks or maybe a 3rd point? He was one year older than that, whatever that age is. For instance he was one year older than Jerry's deer. He was categorically not a large, old mule deer nor am I claiming such.

But I don't care about that. Not this trip. He was just fine by me.
