I had a chance to handle a Custom Shop Remington Model 7 Full Stock. Wondering what opionion others have who either own one or who have shot one? Are they accurate and are they worth the money. I liked the feel, and balance and small size for a woods stalking rifle.

I'll never own one because they don't make the 7 in LH but I think they are one of the most beautiful rifles made.

Can't see the coin for a laminated stocked M7 when I can build a sweeter rig for less, unless and extra 8" of forend matters that much.

Prolly could own the original M-S in 6.5x54 for less....light, handy, deadly, slick, classic....collectible to boot.

If you took a standard 20" blued M7, and put a 100 dollar Lam stock, that's about what you have, but not 'Custom' marked....I think it's alot of hype and far overpriced.

Handy and nice looking, sure, but can't see it for the $$$$.

Seen a Steyr 'modern day mfg' that had a Mannlicher stock - in 6.5x55, and it was for a SONG of a price, fine looking, THAT would have been something I could have sunk my wallet into, had I the coin then.

The epitome of handy I always thought was in an article by Finn Aaggard in American Rifleman and maybe another magazine, it was a ULA, 16 or 16.5" bbl IIRC, in 7mmBR, ULA action, one handy package, mild mannered. Inspired me to build a 7BR rifle, and deadly accurate killer it was, and one of my most 'FUN' guns due to light recoil and spotting hits w/low muzzle rise, not to mention easy on ears. Did I mention brass life?

I'm w/Scott....

Not a Mannlicher guy and don't see the huge premium for a full length stock. Love the McMillan & Brown stocked sporters! Each to his own!

Will soon see true market value: LINK

The middle rifle is my .308 Win. M7MS. It is by far my most used deer rifle. It is a steady 1" rifle with a 4x German Zeiss scope. I bought it off gunbroker.com for around $600.00, which I view as a deal. I would buy a good used 1 for $1,000-1,200 but they are not worth the current retail.

I suspect there will be more collector interest in that cal - might drive it up, depends. I am not a collector, I use guns as tools, shoot em or lose em.

I agree w/GA - current MSRP is much.

The Mannlicher look is obviously attractive to some, but I'm not one of them. That thin piece of wood always seemed like something waiting to be broken with the resulting aggravation it would bring.

The Rem. rifles have that economy bolt face that does not control the case in the action. Nor do they have safeties that hold the firing pin safe when opening the action.

That gun above does not even have checkering!

Since this thing has already be necro-bumped.

I just got to handle a Custom Shop MS in 257 Roberts and I think I’m in love. Except for the price $1,800 with Talley lever rings and a VX-III scope.

Anyone else have one? How do they shoot?

I think they are very nice rifles, but for the price I would do a custom and the savings would allow for some very nice wood. The Mannlicher is a great design, the original theory was you could use it for an AlpenStik but not recommended.

If you can find one for $1,200-$1,500, they're nice rifles. I've bad them in 308, 7mm-08, 257 Roberts and 350 Rem Mag. Re,mington's MSRP is a joke, but at the right price, they're nice guns.
