Anyone have one of these rifles that can attest to the accuracy?

Yep!
I bought one about 4 years ago. Great little rifle.
At 30 yards It'll put 5 shots into the same hole, with ammo it likes. (Eley standard velocity HP)
I have a Leupold 6x42mm scope on mine, with parallax set for 50 yards.
Too bad they quit manufacturing them. Virgil B.

They are nice rifles ... Never really thought of them as rare. Bought mine when they first came out.

They are nice, fairly accurate, and I don't believe rare.

Too bad they quit manufacturing them. Virgil B. I'm sure you already know this but Wby never did "manufacture" them. They're Annie barreled actions that are stocked by a Wby vendor in CA. No suprise that they shoot well concidering Annie's history eah?. To bad they didn't catch on, but few rifles do these days that aren't cheap and/or plastic.

I have one and it is accurate. Like others said, not rare. Its ann Anschutz with a Weatherby stock.

I had one and I'll echo the others here. She was one of the more accurate rimfires I've ever owned. Great bolt handle, good trigger as well. I just couldn't warm up to the stock.

I couldn't warm up to the stock either, which is why I never bought one. I'd rather just have a regular Anschutz, or a Kimber, or a Cooper.

I love mine. Accuracy? Yeah, it shoots. After I bedded it I shot 15 5 shot groups for an aggregate accuracy right at .700" at 100 yards. I believe it is the ideal sage rat slayer.

HiredGun: That is a VERY good looking rig you have there - and it is notably accurate as you relay. Good for you. Which power range is that Leupold scope you have on it? And which ammunition do you use in it for Sage Rat Hunting? Again that rig is great looking. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

There are several variations through Weatherby's XXII;
Early 60's models were made by Barreta in Italy ("Made in Italy) Early 70's models were Anschutz 54 actions ("made in W.Germany") Early 90's were Anschutz 64 actions ("made in Germany") I'd rate them; #1 Annie54 head and shoulders above the rest #2, Annie 64 and Barretas are comparable. check out RimfireCentral, they have a forum just for Weatherby XXII

Huh.... The latest version was released in the mid-late 2000's and to the best of my knowledge was the only bolt action XXII made. The older versions were a semi-auto/manual. These older models were made in Japan & Italy and were fed by either detachable magazine or tube fed.
I'd love to see an early 70's version 54 bolt action ... If they exist.

Yeah, my bad, Weatherby never had the anschutz 54 action (I was confusing it with Savage-Anschutz colaboration), just the 64 action , and not until late 90's(..I think..). Weren't some of the Japanese XXII bolt action with a tube feed?

We well remember the previous Mark XXII, a very classy .22 autoloader with a stock derived from the famous Weatherby Mark V centerfire rifle. The autoloading Mark XXII was introduced in 1961 and remained in the line until 1988. Weatherby was forced to use a number of suppliers over those years to build the actions for the autoloading Mark XXII, a regrettable situation that did nothing for the rifle's reputation, nice as it was. Also, by 1988 the bolt action had become the overwhelming choice of consumers buying deluxe rimfire rifles. For the next 18 years Weatherby left the rimfire rifle market to others. There were no late 90's XXII's. No tube fed bolt actions. The Annie guns came in late 2006 ... I got mine in late 2007 when they were finally orderable by my FFL.

That scope is the Leupold PN:66565 6.5-20x40EFR Target in Tally light weight rings. The ammo it likes best is the Hornady V-Max stuff. On sage rats out to 200 yards is a given. It shoots most any of the plastic tip ammo well. It hates the 20 grain solids. I didn't realize the supply for these was dried up. Makes me rethink using it so much. Just a little. I really like shooting it.

I stand corrected by Avagadro, and the RimfireCentral devotees ( http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=469542 ) sorry for my hasty and shot from the(lame)hip earlier answer.. But the Weatherby XXII based on the Anschutz 64 bolt action should be a good shooter. I assume you'd be paying a premium for the Weatherby name

I don't know. What does a standard Annnie 64 sporter price out at? I paid $775 for mine new ... I've heard of folks paying more and some less. .... edited to add .... http://www.championshooters.com/store/product.php?productid=1036&cat=354&page=11461 Classic (64 sporter) ... $940 ... the Annie does have open sights which could account for the extra coin ... an Annie stock which may add more $$$ I DO NOT know if Anschutz's best work is sold to Weatherby ...

IIRC, there three manufacturers of the semi-auto mark xxii; Beretta, Miroku, and Mossberg. Some were tube fed and some were clip fed. I don't recall the breakdown on who made what variation. The latest iteration (bolt action) by Anschutz are slick.
