Carl, Dom, Pete, where are you ???

Started with some feral cat and fox stalking ... taking the opportunities to learn things to the kids about games, tracks, prints, hunting or simply lying on the ground in the dark night and admire the stars in the sky ...

The ruger number one and the TSX's worked pretty good. I'm trying to hunt with a treestand but this makes me feel like a piece of drying biltong ...

We have to hunt those so late in the night that even a quality X56 scope is barely not enough to see the target.

WHat's up in your parts of Europe guys ?

Was that a juvenile fox or is that the general size? No matter if it was a juvenile, they grow up and then eat a lot of sheep!

The second one ? Yes it was weaned and hunting alone but it was born this year. A pretty small target for me at such a range.

They aren't problem for sheeps but for small game and birds, and also roe deers fawns when they're just born. We have so many of them ...

Then it was a great shot congratulations. I was trying to compare the size of that one to a jackal. How big do the foxes become when mature?

Adult males weight something like 15 to 30 lbs, as far as i remember those I saw in Nalibia they 're about the same size as jackals, but they don't have their pack chasing big game habit.

No, jackals are about the same size. I have not seen them chasing prey as a group because they mainly scavenge or catch small things like insects, mice, birds, rabbits and baby animals.

I saw jackals seriously chasing a springbock in Etosha. I was told they were able to chase wounded, sick or weak big games and track them t'il they can't run anymore.

I will not doubt they can do it in areas where food is scarse, like Etosha. Maybe they also do it over here and I have just not seen it. I have seen a warthog chase a cheetah but that was not because the warthog was hungry!

Have also seen a cheetah chase a jackal. Maybe it was for fun that he chased the jackal or maybe he just did not like jackal. It was funny to see how happy the jackal seemed when the cheetah stopped chasing him.

Good job.

it looks like they (the boars ... and the corn fields too grin) are especially (far too much) abundant this year in Wallonia, what about Germany ?

Good average I'd say.

Boar on the right had 80 kg at an age of 18 months - but that is nothing unusual either.
