120's and RL-15 went .65 outta my 22" mountain rifle. There's a little room to step on it, but I'll call it good. Probably go H4350 with 123 Scenars next go around....

I have never weighed it. I'm guessing in the 9lb range...

Ultralight Arms .260 Rem
22" Bbl
Velocity per Shooting Chrony (confirmed w/ known velocity load)

127 Barnes LRX
0x Fired Lapua brass
210M
45.3gr H4350
0.080" jump
Avg= 2857 fps

First four rounds went into 0.492" and the fifth opened up to 0.816. I'll take it for a skinny pencil barrel...

That would be a fine group out of ANY hunting weight rifle.

Great thread all. Thanks for the link John.

Sharing 2 links I bookmarked here:

260- http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1252154#Post1252154

2nd has loads for 243/260/6.5x47/Creedmoor

http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=348731#Post348731

Hope that helps someone. I found most guys there are using H4350 and H4831SC, often w/140-142s due to the type of shooting done.

I shot a Pac-Nor built 6.5-308 before Rem did the 260. Really liking 123 Sierra Matchking HPs and 130 Accubonds, though just started using some 130 Bergers. My 8 twist shoots fine thru 142s as did a former Sako sporter w/9 twist.

Alot of me to like in the 120-130gr range for what I do.

Latest load using 44/H4350 and 130 Bergers, works w/ABs too. Finding better accuracy w/Winchester 708 brass bumped down, though have 200 new Lapua's onhand.

Same load w/123 MKs shot under .2 for 3shots at 100yds using a 6x. 130s shoot +/- .5"

No chrony data yet sorry. I'd say the 130s are doing 2800-2830.

Custom .260 by Precision Rifle & Tool
26" Brux bbl
Win 7-08 brass necked down
210m
42.6gr RE17
140gr Berger VLD
2850fps
Consistently sub-half MOA (with multiple charges & shooters)

When I switched to JLK VLDs, I bumped up to 43.0gr - work up as these are over book.

Here's a 700 yard group from the 140gr VLD load I posted above. I'll be the first to tell you that 3 shots don't mean squat and the first to admit that I could probably never do this again, but I was still pretty tickled. Was missing my 8" steel plate and fired these three against my backer to see where I was hitting. Came out to a hair over .3 MOA.

GT,

Have you noticed any temp sensitivity with R17? Would like to give it a try, but temps here can be 110 degrees in the summer, and in the 20s or occasional high teens in the winter.

No, but I'm in TN where I generally shoot between 30f and 80f. My buddies out in CO and WY who shoot in wider temp swings have found no issues at all on that subject.

Primer: Federal 210

.6-.7 moa is about right w/Rem brass. Might get down to .5 or better w/Win 708 or Lapua....

Nice shooting for 200 yds and a partition, a solid hunting load

Was searching in Photobucket, where I haven't been for eternity...

found this pic from back a few years ago... show what a 100 grain Ballistic Tip out of a 260 can do, at 125 yds or so...
175 lb blacktail....

260 Accuracy potential?

Put a new barrel from ER Shaw on a Model 70 Short Action...
24 inch, heavy magnum contour...one in 8 twist...

nonstandard "book" load... but plenty enough for blacktail at 200 yds...

[Linked Image]

3 shots at 50 yds...but not bad considering it being a brand new ER Shaw barrel...not 'broken in' yet... within the first 10 shots down the new barrel...

load? 33 grains of H322, CCI Large Rifle Primer... bullet: 85 grain Sierra HP...

I'm a big fan of TNT bullets, always been incredibly accurate for me. So, today I ordered some 90 TNT's to give a go in my .260. My rig shoots the 85 Sie's lights out so will be interested to see how it goes via flight 90 TNT.

Guessing accuracy will be wonderful and I'm guesing the yotes and bunny wabbits won't appreciate them near as much as I do...grin

Anyone ran the 90 TNT in their lil 26 yet?

Thx
Dober

Yeah Dober... I have about 500 or so of them hanging around and stock piled..

then and the 85 grain Sierra HP are pretty interchangeable for accuracy and terminal performance...

surprisingly the only 6.5 bullet I have tried that I did not have predictable accuracy out of was the 95 gr V Max...
