Look. We got just about half the votes for president. Actually, nothing has changed. Obama is still president--with fewer votes than in 2008. The House is still solid Republican. The Republicans screwed up the Senate only because of the incredible ineptitude of their Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Stop blaming everything on the Mexicans. Most Mexican American citizens are socially conservative, have religious and family values, and are reasonably capitalistic. They are OUR kind of people. So stop bashing them. I don't mean the illegals who don't vote anyway. Actually, their numbers have declined because the economy has caused some of them to return to Mexico. The Republicans should convert the Mexicans.

Is that so hard to think about? I remember the solid (Democratic) South!!

Same with the blacks. Yes, there are a lot of black welfare bums. But how many are decent people like us? 30%, 50%, 90%? Whatever the number, it's enough to have turned the election toward Romney. (Besides, are 90% of whites decent people?)

And stop the gay-bashing. Do you know any gays? I do. Most of them are pretty nice people. Who cares if a state recognizes a gay civil union as marriage? Hell, marriage within a religion, which is different, still requires both sexes. And heterosexual marriage itself is getting pretty tattered with all the divorces now.

We've got a lot in common with most of the people in all these groups.

Now as for us "righteous" upstanding white American middle class people, did you know that 3,000,000 fewer REGISTERED REPUBLICANS voted for Romney than had voted for McCain? That would have been enough to turn the race.

Rich white guys? Did you know that a poll at the Harvard Business School, the "West Point of Capitalism" that turns out all these Wall Street types including Mitt Romney, was 65% for Obama!!! 65%!!

The Republicans need to go there and ask them why. That should be their first stop. Then they can ask the Mexicans. Hell, their own Mexican politicians can ask the other Mexicans.

You ain't a gonna get votes by calling the voters "beaners."

Did the Republicans turn the "solid South" around by calling people "redneck hillbillies?"

And abortion? I'm sorry. I don't like it any more than the rest of you but any damned idiot who brays about pregnancy from rape being a gift from God, or claims that a woman can prevent pregnancy from rape by willing it so, had no business being in my political party, let alone the US Senate.

So let's stop wailing and get to work. Dammit, we're almost there.

Note: I am not suggesting we change our principles but that we reach out to the people who, increasingly, will determine the outcomes and show them why they are better off voting conservative.

And Romney ran a damned poor campaign. Let's face it. G.W. Bush was a pretty incompetent president (I voted for him too) but Romney never told the voters how he would differ.

And this talk of relocating to another country is just foolish drivel. Let's get to work.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.

RIGHT ON! RIGHT ON!

I know conservative homosexuals that get tired of being painted as bad people. Many of them are highly educated, have their own businesses, contribute to community charities which includes many Christian charities.

The same can be said of women, blacks, Hispanics, and yes even us evil libertarians. Enough is enough. If the Republicans want our votes then let them earned those votes.

In this world, there are pessimists, optimists, and realists. I'm a factual realist. The fact is, this country as we knew is it over. We will not win another presidential election. Live, or die with it.

Are we now appointing dictators for life now? What do you mean we will never win another election? I assume you mean for president.

I know many Mexicans and I agree that most Mexicans are hard working decent people. However most of them are voted Democrat because Democrats turn a blind eye to illegal immigration where Republicans don't.

I too remember the old Democrat South, just like I remember a California that voted for Bush, Regan, and Nixon. Unfortunately there are too many states hell bent on becoming California. The 3 million Republicans who stayed home would only have changed the outcome if they were in specific states. I haven't read what states these folks are from, but they would have had to have been fairly localized in a few states for any difference to have been made.

The South turned red because the old Blue Dog Democrats were fairly socially conservative, and when the Democrats at the national level went left on social issues the southeren Blue Dog Democrats no longer related to them.

The demographics are shifting farther left with every election cycle. I don't know how you see this as being "almost there."

Romney and Bush ran on a fairly similar value system, which is at the core of the Republican party. I wasn't infatuated with Romney, but for the most part I supported him because the issues he ran on were Conservative issues. These core values were rejected by the majority of voters. This is the game changer.

Look at the number of states that voted for Bush Sr., Regan, and Nixon. Is there any imaginable Republican candidate that you could see winning many of these states today? The answer is no, and we cannot always take it to the final day in battleground states in order to win. If we are depending on eeking out small marginal victories, which is the best I can see us doing, then we are done, especially when you consider the dhifting demographics.

beaner, beaner, beaner.

I had to establish my position as one of those old angry white guys.

I am not about to roll over and become a democrat, lite, sorry, it ain't gonna happen.
When all the sugar titters wake up one day and realize the world has really changed, let them ask their party for help.

Kind of like the guy on staten island yesterday whining that he hadn't seen a fema or red cross truck for a week, and was wondering where the "free food" was. He lives in a blue state, he can ask the annointed one.
Oh, by the way, was talking to one of my old time friends/clients yesterday, she is gayer than a three dollar bill.
Never enters into the equation.

Oh, beaner, beaner, they are in my family, dang little beaners.
Wait a minute, i live on pinto beans too, i guess that makes me a beaner.

But one of the reasons given for Obama's victory was how he solved the problems for the storm ravaged folks uo there?

A couple of you guys disagreed with my statement about "we're almost there." I can see your point but here's mine.

Well, Romney got 48% of the votes. That's a helluva lot more than Goldwater got in 1964 where they were also writing about the death of the Republican party.

Dang it!! We got 30 governorships out of 50 in 2012. So let's go.

We have to rattle the Republicans' cage. Start by communicating with any prominent one you know. First, get a prominent and competent chairman. Who was Reince Priebus? Sounds like a form of acne.

Their Senate campaign was a disgrace, so bad that the DEMOCRATS gave $1.5MM to a Republican to win a primary because they knew he would make an ass out of himself and lose the election.

Go to your college if you're a graduate. Ask them what you have to do to get the Republicans a fair shot in explaining things to the young skulls full of mush.

Find a college professor, a Jew, or a newspaper reporter, and tell them you'd like to sit down quietly and understand why they always vote Democrat. We might learn something.

And quietly boycott things. Don't watch ABC, NBC, CBS, or MSNBC no matter what. Don't go to any movies made by Spielberg or any concerts with...you know the names. Don't buy a GM car or a Chrysler. Don't buy anything that says GE on it.

This is a time to stand.

Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Where to begin?

You frame every argument just like a liberal Democrat. We lost because "we" hate Mexicans, Gays, and women.

If we would just sit down and learn about the other side all of us together could sit around the campfire and sing kum-ba-ya.

I say that's all bunk, we have a large and growing dependent class, of all races, whose main concern is to keep the money and benefits flowing.

The problem going forward on the Republican side is between those who have conservative values and those who have libertarian values. You can see it here on the Campfire. Those who oppose gay marriage and abortion turned off women and gay voters blah! blah! blah!

The growing secularism of the country does not bode well going forward, as socialism and secularism go hand in hand.

Also he doesn't explain how we overcome 108% turnout with 100% of those votes going to Obama. It's impossible to win in that type of environment.

I understand what you are saying and in a perfect world it makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately we don't live in a perfect work and I believe the election compounded by everything else has made most Whites hit a breaking point.

After being told that everyone comes before us, that we cannot celebrate or be proud of our heritage, that we have all had a silver spoon in our mouth because of our skin color. Its old and people are upset.

All I heard this election was about race as in skin color. Blacks this, Whites this, Latinos this ect. Why was it all about race? America no longer has its own identity and I am sick of having to listen to how I "have" to accept muslims, gays, blacks, mexicans ect. No one would care but people screaming about their heritage over others makes people resist the idea and causes resentment.

I love this country and am embarrassed and disappointed. I don't hate anyone based on skin color but do hate them based on actions!

WRONG! Wrong ! Wrong !
A lot has changed! We have a lying, vindictive, socialist POS as President who is a devout fan of communism & a closet Muslim. He has done more damage to our once great Country in the last 4 years than all previous Presidents combined ! He has single handedly led our National debt into to the brink of no return. He has created an economic depression that will soon make the Great Depression of the 1930's look like a friggin cake walk. He has now created a race & class war that has permanently devided our country by using class warfare to turn voters against any opponent or anyone whom opposes him or his ideas! He flat out lied his ass off though out the campaign, with no remorse what so ever!

You say nothing has changed? When the stock market crashes, you lose your job & business, & your bank account is empty after 4 more years of this wanna be dictator, then you can remind us all again how "nothing has changed"

Make no mistake, my friend, America is at War. A Financial, Economic, & Religious war to save our Nation from what damage Bammer, Biden, & Pelosi have allready done! Damage that is probably all ready irreversible! Damage that is yet to come.... So nothing's changed???

And as for the Illegal Mexicans. Please show me one plausible study that shows that they are Returning to Mexico? Open your eyes and look around! Apparently, you've never been to Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, or Californification! Open your eyes & look around! We ARE the "Minority!!!
Have you been to the E.R. Lately? Good luck on seeing a Doc. In the ER if your really really sick & need one! You will wait at least 10 hours in any major hospital in the USA, unless your having a heart attack in the waiting room! And you will wait because all the illegal Mexicans are at the ER getting free treatment for their kids runny nose or their Illegal Grandma has a cold or the Flu!
And They are all there because they have no health care & because the POS in the whitehouse is Not going to deport them, or tax them, & will give them free health care, feed them with food stamps & educate their children for free in our all ready failing public school systems that are overrun & over crowded by "Illegals!

And By the way, when was the last time that you were put on hold on the phone while calling the Phone Company or your Local Bank? You can bet your sweet ass that the recorded voice message said "press one for Spanish, in Spanish!!!

And as for your first statement, "We got just about half the votes for president" ? That just goes to show me that half of our population whether it be Mexican, Black, or White, are a bunch of frickin moral retards!
Most People no longer have Values, Morals, or Integrity! Thats what's wrong with our Nation, today! Plain & Simple!
Too damn many souless bleeding heart liberal idiots, totally devoid of any Character or Morals! A bunch of blind sheep being led to the slaughter by the Antichrist !

Yep! Right. Nothing's changed.... mad Maybe you should move to another country, or maybe just Planet Reallity!

EXACTLY. There are those that would paint me as 'negative' about this country.. Wrong word. I'm a pragmatist (or as you stated, a realist)..

I'm not blind. I can see where this is going. And it IS OVER for us conservatives.. OVER.. And if you don't think so, just wait till 2016 when yet another damn Dem gets into the Oval Office.. The stupid-azzed GOP keeps trotting out the same old tired "idols" that they feel is the next Reagan..

Please..

Christie? Ryan? Rubio? Portman? Is that all ya got?? They'll just find another nameless Santa Claus who lies and promises presentos for every peasant and PRESTO = President Claus II..

Y'all can dream of recapturing a conservative gov't.. Wake up - and you'll find the nightmare is REAL...
