the solid Democratic south became Republican because...LBJ signed civil rights legislation. Haters gonna hate.

Is that really all you got? The reason you voted for obama is simple...envy. You want for free what others have worked for grin

Got this from a friend of mine:

I am finding inner peace after this election by just realizing that, as a 71 year-old mostly retired but successful businessman, the young people are entitled to socialism if they want it.

Our generation rejected it and built good lives for our families within the free enterprise system. We fought several wars and rejected crazy left wing ideas, but I think we may have given our children too much that they didn't have to work very hard for. We thus set-up a system where they actually believe that you can get things for nothing.

The young people will experience socialism for themselves, just as two generations of Europeans have since 1945. Getting lots of "stuff" for nothing (or apparently for nothing), breeds contempt for the "fools" who are still willing to go out and build businesses and work for a living.

We will probably not be around when the wheels fall off the goody-wagon, but the young people will have to deal with it the same way a younger generation of Europeans is dealing with the end to free stuff and the realization that only hard work can yield good results. Don't fret, we did our part and cannot change the course of the USA at this point. Cheer-up - it could be worse."

...I find myself in agreement: I think maybe all our Conservative legislators should just vote Present on every single freaking Obama administration bill that comes up in the next 4 years, and let the pieces fall where they may.

It shouldnt take long for the whole friggin mess to collapse, but the administration wont be able to blame any of it on "obstructionist" republicans or conservatives.

As someone once said You have the government you deserve."
And the Socialist/Dems deserve this one in spades. Let em own it. When the "free" food, housing, medical care, etc. runs out, as it inevitably will, maybe they'll come to their senses. If not... they have only themselves to blame.

IMO, the GOP made a calculated risk when they pushed social/religious ideals that they knew were not gonna get majority support. they apparently thought people hated Obama enough to swallow the social agenda. if they would have stuck to the smaller govt./fiscal responsibilty message, it would have turned out much different.

Exit Poll: percentage of Obama voters who believe that Republicans want to BAN birth control pills -> 62%.

The left did a good job of getting their lies out.

Look at the map that shows every county of the country, and which ones went red or blue. Basically a handful of areas determined the election results. You will never get these counties to vote Republican. The only real strategy Republicans have is to win every possible voter they can in swing states by getting huge voter turn out. If this stategy is successful they can win, but even then it will be a fairly tight victory. However, a blatantly biased media and Hollywood celebrites make this very difficult, especially considering the Dancing with the Stars and welfare mentality of many Americans today.

The problem is that in order to win Republicans have to have an unbelievable good candidate who performs an exemplary job campaining, and even then this candidate will win by the slimmest of margins. The Democrats do not have to perform at this level to win. They can have a weak sub-par candidate and still win. So, a marginal Democrat candidate usually will usually beat good Republican candiate.

Conclusion: Republicans can win, though it will not be often or by large margins, and an occassional victory by the smallest of margins will not bring the country back to the center, let alone to the right, and Rebublicans will continue to lose ground over time.

And eventually, in order to become more competitive, Reublicans will embrace many ideas that are currently liberal ideas. They will start with social issues, but this won't be enough to draw very many from the Democrat party, so they will eventually embrace many fiscal ideas of the Democrat party as well. When that occurs the Reblican party will truly be gone. Democrats will have won, game, set, match!

Also, think how far left our country has moved socially.

15 years ago the best Clinton could get was don't ask don't tell. Today we have states that have passed laws allowing gay marriage. Many of you on this site support gay marriage. Did you 15 years ago?

In the early 90's Hillary Care was overwhelmingly routed. Today, we have Obamacare, and I think most see complete nationalized health care as inevitable.
