It was quite a few years ago a friend brought one over to the house. Something had killed all the mice up in Canada so we had a crazy number of great greys around home. the time of year was right for the roads to be covered up with frogs in the evening so owls were getting hit by cars at night while grabbing frogs off the roads.

Anyways, yeah, they are like a large ermine or small pine martin under those feathers. You grab hold by the neck or mid body and it's all fluff. Put together like a feather duster.

But the claws... oh my....

Alright, the wife has had me sofa shopping for the last 2 weekends.. I feel like i am losing my manly edge.... So what better way to feel manly again then go out and buy a chainsaw...

I know its been talked about on this thread.. Looking at getting a Stihl... I need to cut up a whole bunch landscape railroad ties.. And I have big oaks in the yard in cause of a storm..... Maybe a MS271.. Any thoughts?????

The three absolute best chainsaws around here are Husky,Stihl and echo.I have acquaintances who do tree work and those three brands are all they will buy.

I like stihl, but Dave has a pretty BA Husky. It cuts wood with anger!

I've got a Husky 435 and while I don't cut "alot" of wood, I like it very much so far.

I too think Dave has a Jonsered, I remember the day he bought it quite well. Actually I remember the day he bought the first saw and the day he bought second "bigger" saw. I think Dusty remembers the one day too, he was there when Dave broke the news to me. LOL!

Thank you everyone for the kind words on the owl pictures. It was a fun picturing adventure. (That's what Dave says...picturing.) Last night I loaded some pictures on a new site I found, Capture Minnesota. I was quite surprised to see people liked them. HAAHAHAH!!!!!

It's a really good saw, really good starter cold or hot, pulls big, full chisel chain through anything I care to cut and does it with power to spare.

Cons:

It's heavy.

I'd love to have a size smaller for limbing the trees once they are on the ground, for climbing work or just for general purpose.

Like around a 50cc saw.

I've got a busted one at home that I just haven't bothered to shop for the parts, a log fell on it and busted the recoil houseing.

Crap you're right. Whatever it is...I like to cut with it. That thing is a hot rod.

All you chainsaw jockeys are welcome at my place all next week. We are clearing timber to make an orchard. Bring your favorite saw and we can have races

My favorite is a Stihl 351 (I think) and the back up is a smaller Husky. I like'em but huskies do object to falling out of trees.

That's a great idea! I'll bring another red saw that you guys can try out and a couple trailers to haul all of that pesky wood away.

I like my big saw for cutting in the piles or showing off but like ND said, something in the lower 50cc range would be handy.

Well if you guys don't mind the Stihl saws for a smaller unit, I'd recommend the Stihl 250.

That little saw I have has cut WAY more wood that it is supposed to and it keeps on chugging. Perfect for limbing but I've cut some bigger timber, just not very quickly.

The only thing I don't like about it is the quick "open" gas cap. I had to replace one because the springs wear out inside and it won't close. I bought two, so I have a spare in the woods with me. They're cheap, $6-8.

White Bear, hauling that pesky wood away is the biggest part of the job. I'd love ot have it disappear. I've got 3 yrs of wood cut and hand split and stacked. I just want this stuff to go bye-bye.

Then I get to fence it all and build 4 gates and plant all the trees and mulch, and then maybe I can turn it over to the good wife to take over from there.... I'm tired already and my beer supply is low.

Well pulled the trigger. Got a Stihl ms261 18 inch bar. Just like the farm boss ,same cc but 2 1/2 pounds lighter.

Feeling manly again. Now wife needs to find a couch. Lol.

My Echo 500 series has been a great saw. Comes with a 5 year parts and labor warranty.

Ah, that rules me out then. I only work for beer !
