Did you say pellet guns were an option? The CMP has used, rebuilt Daisey 853 SSP rifles for 115 bucks shouted shipped.

Let me know if you want one to use, or a GPS unit to use.

And tell them to bring their Playstations and Xboxes to use as targets...

yes pellet guns will be part of it. I may be able to get the pellet guns from 4H. working on that.

Charlie, did you hear that thump? that was me fainting when I read 2,000 kids. I want a lot of kids, but 2,000 our first year is prolly too much. I would like to do the Tshirt thing too, but $$ may inhibit that. I have 2 conservation orgs (Viking Sportsmen and Douglas County Pheasants Forever) that are putting this on. Depends how much $$ they can float for the Tshirt thing. anyone who wants to help is more than welcome. I have been making a list with all of these really good ideas.

I was thinking about a couple of other activities:

How to shoot a Tree (Tzone will run this one)
Mice are your friends (Ryan)
The art of determining the manufacturer of your gun (Gopher)
Harvesting grouse with a beer bottle (Dave)
Loving the MN Vikings (Bill)

I am sure there are a few more ideas like this out there!

Thanks guys!

You guys pitch me an idea and if it is approved by the board of directors, you can do it. I have already rejected beer and hookers and operating a still. But, hey, you never know!

Dave, what's the bag limit on those azimuths? Would a .270 over-penetrate? I suppose they'd taste good wrapped in bacon and grilled? grin

T, hatchet throwing is the activity the adults like the best. Nothing like going all Davy Crockett on a pine stump! Or maybe it should be: going all Northern Davy Crockett!! smile

Shouldn't gopher be taking that class? grin

I could surly teach a class on tree shooting. I hate to admit it, but that wasn't the first tree I've shot!

Hookers, stills, beer, smokey burnouts? Yoots of Northern Minnesota will be in fine shape. Better yet, it sounds like it could be the fund raiser adults like me would attend to raise $$$ for said yoots. Who's in?

Sorry B-man...got off track. Start out slow and build it. We started nearly 20 years ago and now it's a huge undertaking with over a hundred volunteers and lots of donations. Everything for the kids is free.

The most popular event is our trout pond. A local fishermans group sponsors it. Kids put a piece of corn on a Zebco rig and catch themselves a Rainbow. They can take it home, we'll clean it, or they can release it. I think they donate the rod & reels too.

Get other outdoor groups involved like DU, NWTF, Delta, Boy Scouts, NRA Foundation, WU, etc., all who will bring volunteers and $$$ for the kids. It's really a very easy sell. Even WalMart, Gander, and Cabelas like to get in the game...it's all about the kids. Win/win. smile

Hows about teaching them the art of Amish Rake Fighting? You know...just in case...

You never know where these kids will end up for Chriss sakes!

Get Play it Again Sports to donate the bike helmets so the wee ones dont get hurt too bad and then get Home Depot to dontate the rakes.

Chit you're in bidness!

A comment like "Quit crying PhhKer and "rake" him back!" goes a long ways towards a shy kids self confidence. Just sayin...

grin

Not Davy Crockett, You want to go Ed Ames on the target. If I have to explain, you're way to young to be throwing hatchets. laugh

The Board of Directors has met and rejected Amish Rack Fighting as we dont want to be protested by the local gardening club. However, the Board feels a Bikini Olympics for the moms has merit and will need to be investigated further!

We should consider several divisions also. Stock and custom. I mean with some of today's bolt on products, some of things are barely legal.... er, I mean street legal.
