Can you imagine if that thing were the size of a VW? Very cool.
Great photography is not about being in the right place at the right time, it is about putting yourself in the right place at the right time.

Nice colorful image. Wonder what comes out of their cocoon? Those spiky knobs look like something one might see on South San Francisco Street here in Flagstaff on a Friday night.

I don't know, hopefully, I can show you if I'm lucky catching him coming out. I went back the next day and found this: and then two days later: He/she is still in this condition right now. I have my kids watching it. Hopefully, we'll be lucky enough to see the result of the transformation. JP

I could be wrong, but I bet if you brushed bare skin against those spines you would soon regret it.
I brushed against a plain il brown one in the garden one day and started to get pretty severe reactions very quickly. Severe enough I was thinking about how far and time needed to get to a hospital and over the next 30 minutes or so the symptoms lessened.
Brightly colored and with those spines I am thinking "LOOK OUT/DANGER"
