and here we go!

wolves = bad

if we could somehow resurrect the indigenous species that used to inhabit these areas, then we would be ok. instead we imported a larger variety and must reap what we sow.

sorry to hear about the wolf problem, maybe some mountain lions would help? we can spare some!

I've got a little secret i've been keeping under my hat.

Many of you know i have this old plow truck that used to be uncle dusty's truck. Well the truck has been through hell and back with it's original body being eithe smashed or rusted off for the most part. Well, nate and i have been secretly working on the ole truck. We gave it a quick makeover bringing it back closer to former glory with a few little changes. We are going to surprise dusty with the bright yellow truck today when he gets to camp chickenbuck. We drove it out to camp last night with the paint basically still wet. grin

We went yellow with a white roof and white wheels like dusty used to have it. But i sprayed the whole truck with matte clear and we put a Skane designed chickenbuck logo on the doors. I lightly distressed the logos to make them look older and the matte clear keeps the glare down and it will survive the brush and snowbank scratches without showing so bad.

I've waited to post this, making sure dusty is on the road heading this way before i post. That way i know the suprise wont be ruined. It will be fun to see his reaction. I'll post more detail on the truck's history and project details next week when I'm back home.

Oh well , hate to be Debbie Downer, but if you guys could witness what has happened here your jaw would hit the floor,. I actually have no problem with wolves. I'm simply pointing out that they are devastating on animal heards if not controlled. Ask the boys in Idaho how their elk heard Is doing? Canada traps and shoots them like crazy and hardly dents them. But they try and it does help things out! If no one here believes me, PM me and I'd be glad to give you a tour of 100 square miles of devastation .

Just venting after another depressing hunt.

NoDuck I bet we are neighbors as far as hunting goes.
Very sad game management! What do you do other than stare at the photo albums. 1936 to 1994 great. Since then dismal.

Would love to see a wolf in the wild...

Mind you, I'd only watch it for a few seconds...or as long as it took me to line up the crosshairs!

Sorry for the negative post last night. I posted here because there are a lot of Minnesota hunters on this thread. I promise not to bring it up again.

Dave outstanding job on the truck! I had a 78 and a 76 short box step side.

No can shoot. I have a little boy with me I'm trying to show how to hunt the correct way. It was pitch black, I had a pack and my gun on my back and trying not to make any noise.

He also rattled in a fork about a half hour ago. It came in VERY sneaky down wind of us.

Little stinker... I bet I rattled for 3 years before I got it to work, he does it on the first try. He was all smiles though.

At the dnr "wolf inspection" they examined the beasts carcass, including its stomach contents.
contents were one snowshoe hare,or at least parts thereof.

We just saw the dumbest rut struck buck ever. I could have nudged him with the truck at any given time. He finally moved to the ditch, grunting at our grunts to him, from 5' and the truck running.

It was a nice 8pt but Duluth doesn't like gun fire in the city limits
