SO, elk are regal, deer are great, but it's the beauty of a "rooster" pheasant I never get over.

Nice pic's everybody. I'd add some but am on my Ipad away from home and can't.

Sako .220 swift. I used that a lot back in the day...

Thought so. So much for the 223 being to small for deer. <grin>

Cool pics! Didn't realize it until now but I prefer "as it lay" to the posed pics. I'll have to make sure I get them from now on. Here's the few that I have, the first one being my favorite.

Not in "as it lay" purest form, but close.

That's a pile of bear scat in the foreground, one of the biggest blackies I've seen got to the elk just before we did. I took the pic in case I got checked by the DOW becasue the bear ate the gonads off the elk, and in CO, you've got to leave them attached.

This thread was on the elk forum, right?

Yes, it was but since there were some pic's of other game, and this was one of my "as it lay", I thought it would be ok--following precedent. No?

Thought that was a cool shot of a kudu, actually. Is an elk forum, but elk hunters hunt other stuff, too. There are coyotes, pheasants, grouse?, mule deer, etc. already in here. Fun stuff.

We just got in from looking at and for bruins. Kept thinking about how ugly the silver scope is, may have to rattle can it one of these days... cool

My comment wasn't directed to you, just posted after you... all kinds of non-elk photos were posted.

Generally I'm mystified how threads drift from the original post/request.

Guess I'm too literal for internet forums... if a guy requests "as it lay photos" on an elk forum, then posts the same, I assume that's what he want's or he'd have put the thread on the general big game forum.

Silly me.

What gives on the black rag on the elk horn Dober?

Could have covered the scope with it... laugh

I too was wondering about all the non-elk in the elk "as it lay" thread.
