That is really close to where I hunted elk this year. I was north of McCall and SE of Riggins. My legs hurt just looking at those pictures, cuz I know how it works! Beautiful for sure. We saw wolves, but no bears (I could have shot either).

That would be a blast. The whole trip looks like it would be a lot of fun!

So Dave, Are you getting ready for the fishing opener? How much ice have you guys got up there yet? I went by our local lakes yesterday and they were ice free. I'm guessing the 'Cities lakes will be a little crowded this year if no one can get out north of town.

Who's getting snow today? I heard parts of MN got 9"so far. Nothing here in central WI. West and NW WI are getting dumped on.
Going to be a rain event for us.

We are getting dumped on right now in Central Iowa. Also supposed to be as cold as 18 F on Saturday.

I'm really not a fishing opener guy. It's a circus for one thing, rookies at the boat ramps, and even boat ramp veterans can have a bad time on that first trip due to unexpected mechanical troubles or forgotten items or just due to being 6 or 7 months removed from the whole thing.

Then there's the weather.... almost guaranteed to be miserable.

I gladly sit it out. grin

I am with you Dave....I get all sorts of weird looks from the people who know I love to fish when I tell them I may not get out on opener (mostly coworkers in the Twin Cities). I tell them, I live in lake country, I can fish on Tuesday night!

Garage sale weekend here. I have about 110 muskie lures to sell, I hope they go well. And then a purge of junk. I smile every time someone walks away with something.

I think I've only fished on MN opener...it was 1999. I was leaving for WI to live a few weeks later, so I figured I better at least do one opener. A group of guys from work went up to Kab to camp in Voyagers Nat. Park and fish. We didn't do well on the fish.

On the WI openers, I always went to the WI river because I had it to myself, since the lakes were open. smile

At that point, I'd been fishing the river for about a month anyway so I had a few spots sniffed out.

14.3" of snow in Sawyer County as of 11:30 AM today. Our deer camp is in Sawyer County.

Only had a few sprinkles here.

By the way, I just noticed that this thread has over 40 million views. 40 million. That is kinda a big number, eh? Just think if Dave could collect a measly dime per view!

we supposedly got 8 inches here, but there was only an inch on the ground this morning when I went to work, nothing at all a few miles north of here.
It was all gone when I got home.
